An agent firing right now would blow up the forum
The player shares some responsibility as well.
Bratt can easily call his agent and tell him to get this done.
Bratt's going to sign a long term deal that is going to put the Devils up against the cap. If he's really the one driving the bus here trying to milk the Devils for every penny they have available, one might question the players motives.

When the old New Jersey Nets first came into the NBA they had a point guard named Mike Newlin who averaged over 30 points per game.

And the Nets usually lost.

Paying Jesper Bratt at the equivalent of some of the other top forwards mentioned would be like paying Newlin a premium.

Let another team be foolish enough to do that.
In 2018-2019, I was telling the Oilers that exact thing.

Don’t pay McDavid or Draisaitl any money; they’re players on a bad team and so are bad. Remember the Newlin rule.

f*** Bratt. Fila accepted around 7.8ish, while producing at better rates FOR LONGER. This guy wants huge $ and no term?

We've reached the point in the conversation where we are comparing Jesper Bratt to 1970s NBA players. Love it.

If I were Bratt‘s agent - and Bratt wants to stay in NJ - I play hardball expecting a Fiala like contract, but if that won’t materialize will settle with less (and less term) hours before arbitration. I expect a deal tomorrow and I say it’s 4 x 6.6 Mio USD

Where are people reading what Bratt asked for and/or what Fitz offered? I keep seeing reactions to it, if someone could post it so I could be angry at someone as well that would be a huge help.

I don't think that matters at all. It is just based off 1 RFA year. Bratt deserves to be paid in the 7s range for a 7-8 year deal, but anything above 8 is ridic.

But speaking of movement...This guy tied a fly called the "game changer" probably 10 years ago where he tied 5 or 6 individual segments on a shank and used wire to attach them so they would articulate in the water...The result is pretty spectacular.

Everyone here wants Bratt long-term. The problem is that's not gonna happen. The argument we're having is what to do instead.

You don't know that. You've posted like 20 something pessimistic posts about the same topic in the last 24 hours. You've already decided to feel shitty about this, but Bratt can easily extend anything between 1 or 4-8 years.

There's definitely no agreement on Bratt, some are willing to sign him at 9million while some are arguing he's not worth 6.5m. Some want to trade him already right now (for Meier), some after the arbitration, some next year and some are willing to hang on to him no matter what.

It's no worse than people wanting to give Bratt a blank check off 1 great season

Bratt has been great for awhile now. Go back a few pages and take a look at his numbers over the last THREE seasons. IF you think its a one year wonder, you aren't paying attention.

No one is saying to give him a "blank check" either.

I'm kind of expecting a 4-5 year deal to get done tomorrow.
Would love it if they could push the deal up into the 6 year range, which is what Fitz may be pushing for. Get him locked up until he's 30, and at the end of the deal he'll be young enough to chase another big contract in UFA with another deal for his post-prime years.
