gotta say bratt has been one of the lone bright spots in an otherwise shit sandwich of a season. going to be at least a PPG player this year.. always in the lineup. can't ask for much more from him
Nemec, Bratt, Meier in that order are my bright spots.

Marino, Siegenthaler, Palat in that order are my brown spots.

What’s really fudging wild is that this team has close to 5, 27 goal scorers (once you add in Toffoli’s 26 goals).

Mercer finally had his sophomore slump (year 3, late bloomer), but he still got 20 goals. Plus, they had Holts and Haula chipping in 15+ . I don’t see the offense being a major issue going into next year. Even if they trade Holtz, a full year of Dougie makes up for that.

I still hate Palat’s contract. Its obvious his “leadership” didn’t help the Devils this year. He occupied a spot on Nico’s line with little points to show for it and his injuries have taken their toll. Paying someone 6m for the playoffs is stupid.

You know who had 6m AVV contract for the past 5 years Jake Guentzel. Just for reference.

Biggest lesson of this year has to be not taking any team lightly, getting high on your own supply and thinking you run the league after 1 good year and can take sections of games of and still win. Also not giving up a year would be the next one, Pens and Isles coming from behind us and taking both spots is really bad optics but the bright spot is that Travis Green won't be the coach long term. Would've 100% gotten the job if they squeaked in

I despise Palat's contract but it's very unfair to compare an RFA v UFA deal

Getting emails and calls about season tickets next year is something else.

I used to tell them I would do game by game basis until the team made the playoffs and they'd usually understand or agree over the phone. My go to now is probably gonna be until they actually string consecutive playoff years lol

If he wasn't so damn streaky that's all I could ask for. His game has gotten better this season and last. You can see he is a bit better defensively and his confidence in his skating abilitywith the puck is through the roof. Its also a plus that he can play with Nico and/or Jack and have chemsitry with both of them.

Glad he is locked up for 7 more seasons !

remember when timo had 11 goals on march first lmao
16 goals in 21 games since, that's #1 league-wide (tied with Kaprizov).
We don't know exactly what the issue was with injury, missing confidence or just false usage, but this dude we're seeing right now, could be fun to watch over a full season.

Imagine all the talent we've had over the years and Scott Stevens 1994 60 assist season is still the team high water mark.

Luke has been fabulous and it's frustrating because Faber has also been great, and I think he also deserves the attention he's getting. But I don't agree with people leaving Luke out because Faber is at 25 min ATOI and Luke is at 21 ATOI. Luke has the highest ATOI on this team as a rookie, as does Faber. Because Luke doesn't have to play 25 mins shouldn't be a negative - he's still leading the team in ice time, and is outscoring everyone but Bedard as a rook. Hughes should be a finalist for sure. I think he deserves consideration for the award.

disappointing season. playoffs was the goal and the goal was missed.

i am aware of the injuries, i am aware of the goalie performances and i am aware of the firing of the coach. none of it changes anything. every team has some of the same issues over an 82 game season. the roster was simply not mature enough to overcome those obstacles.

hopefully management, coaching staff and every single player does all they can to get the devils back to the playoffs next season. now the lottery and the draft looms and i can't get myself interested in those events, even if i am against trading the pick.

The Calder is pretty irrelevant. Look at the history of who won it.

Much more important is that Luke figure out what he wants to be: a #1D or a mid pair offensive specialist.

Given how hard Jack and Quinn seem to work at their games, I'm not really worried about Luke's progression. But, it still is up to him. And that's the difference between a HoF type career and one that gets forgotten. That's a much more meaningful distinction than getting / not getting Calder consideration.
