Luke and Simon as the top 2 D-man prospects. Our boys getting some love!

Feel like a lot of these top prospects list are heavily underrating the 2023 defenseman. I'd have Willander and Simashev above the majority of prospects on these lists.

I am and I assumme Guadana would say that the list is missing some Russian prospects but that is pretty usual.

I’m sure Habs fans reacted well to Reinbacher being #17 (after Knies at #15!).

Update: I looked and they were too busy overreacting to Hutson being the 10th defenseman at 26th to notice. (He’s better than the overrated Luke apparently.)

I wouldn’t count out Stone if he can stay healthy.

While (some) Vancouver fans can be annoying, they aren’t wrong about Pettersson’s defense, if/when the Canucks are better he’ll be a candidate.

Note: This last list ended up being the closest, which make sense because the top vote getters still need to be on a good team and score.

This list only missed that voters liked Staal better, his rep as a premier shutdown center put him over Aho, and voters don’t care about Kreider. (Not sure why Dom’s model went ga ga over him either but whatever.)

The end of that article:
Otherwise, the rest of the contenders are tasked to shut down the league’s best forwards in their minutes — and many of them do it quite successfully. And many, clearly, are managing to limit star players, and push play back up the ice.

No one is better at that, right now, than Bergeron. He’s the favorite no matter how the trophy criteria is defined. Bergeron’s on track to win his record-setting sixth trophy, and second in a row. The Bruins’ center has been pivotal all year, in every situation, at an elite level.

But others may finally be breaking into the race. Along with favorites like Bergeron and Kopitar, maybe Backlund finally gets his due because the offense stands out along with his shutdown defense. Eriksson Ek’s been a force in his own zone, too, which could be finalist-worthy. And Hischier’s strong season may be the start of him being in the conversation for years to come. Even Barkov, who doesn’t rate as well defensively as a whole, does the little things right enough to find himself in the conversation.

The exact order, and finalists, will be decided based on the perception and interpretation of the trophy. The Selke’s become a two-way award to adapt today’s game that emphasizes turning defense into offense. How that defense is measured is where the conversation has to keep evolving so the best shutdown forwards with an offensive spark can be adequately pinpointed each season.

Eriksson Ek is simply amazing how solid he is. Hasn't had a bad season in 5 years and zero reward. Would be nice to see Hischier & EK there. He is a bit slow, but so are 50%+ of the players on the list, compete level is above everyone else.
