I never understood the Bratt Pack “hate” in the first place lol. It’s Twitter, it’s just jokes, every team has fans that just mess around on Twitter. It’s nothing serious imo.

I could understand being frustrated with the Bratt signing thing though, but it’s been a while.

What pisses me off was bringing up old and forgotten so-called "grudges" that I've long since moved on from, and thinking I've still got them just 'cause of a joke.

When it comes right down to it, a joke is still a joke.

I don't understand how certain people think there is some deeper meaning to it.

Because this is like the weakest skill to have on the pp, and frankly a waste of time. You have 1 extra man, you shouldn't need someone good at winning puck battles on the pp. Obviously, the faceoffs, he's good at that but...nothing else really.

Nico's ability to keep puck possession and win puck battles is superb 5v5, but it's useless for pp.

I also don't really get the logic of "additional skill other players bring". If you have 4 skilled guys and 1 useless guy, that would just make it a 4 on 4, not a 5 on 4. I am exaggerating a bit but yea.

It's definitely exaggeration on your part to go the waste of time and useless route. There's a middle ground to be had in calling a guy useless and a guy who is capable of producing, which Nico is. This isn't Andrew Peters or something, his involvement on the PP doesn't make it equivalent to a 4 on 4.

There's plenty of clips within this highlight from last year that shows he can do just fine on PP1. Especially with some combination of Jack, Dougie, Timo, Bratt and Toffoli taking the other spots.

You might have moved on, but some of us will choose to never forget Kinkaid roasting you on Twitter.

One of my more dubious claims to fame on this forum is threatening to physically assault Bratt pack, which made its way to him somehow via this forum and caused him to make an account here.

I felt a little bad about it, just because I think physical violence should be reserved for people far worse than him and I’m not actually a violent person. I did find it kind of amusing that it caused him to sign up though.

I think the issue I had with him is he was making posts that heavily implied that Bratt was re-signing any day now and he had connections telling him such, but it wound up going on another several months.

Focus more on offense yes. Especially with Nosek in the fold

And just look at Boston last year. Nosek was on the top pk unit. Not Bergeron. Bergeron also had a 60% offensive zone start percentage 5v5. Nico was sub 50%

And I should have said take Nico off that top pk unit. Not take him off it entirely.

I mean it’s admirable that Nico wants to play those minutes, and he’s certainly capable, but its grinding, both mentally and physically. Id like to keep him fresher in both regards.

Our bottom 6 was a bit of a mess and we couldn’t put together a 3rd line that could
take the difficult minutes Nico’s line had.

If we had a shut-down 3rd line that could handle more and/or Jack’s line wasn’t getting such soft minutes then Nico wouldn’t have to do so much heavy lifting.

Bergeron is more than a decade older than Nico and just retired, so it’s not a surprise he played a less than Nico last season.

5v5
Nico 81 GP 1067:32 TOI 13:10 TOI/60
Bergeron 78 GP 882:22 TOI 11:18 TOI/60

Bergeron in 2009-10
5v5
73 GP 963:52 TOI 13:12 TOI/60

Nico averaged 2:05 on PK last season.

Bergeron PK highest averages:
2008-09 64 GP 2:18
2010–11 80 GP 2:04
2012-13 42 GP 2:12
2013-14 78 GP 2:00
2015-16 75 GP 2:21
2016-17 79 GP 2:09

I would like another line to pick up the slack but it has to happen first. Not hypothetically in these conversations but on the ice, so I’ll believe when I see it.

It was good to see Bill chime in on this. As a Devils/Orioles/Syracuse person (and Bill and Kevin are both Syracuse people)--- in all three instances the markets are small enough where the worst examples of access-journalism rules the day for my teams.

And of course all of the MASN reporters have been noticeably silent. But you cant blame them to a large extent-- they have to put bread on the table for their families just like we all do. Yes, I get upset when Amanda doesnt dig ravenously for injury news or other things, but I truly believe that's not her fault. It's the evolution of the news business that puts them into these spots.

Access journalism has invaded every small market pro team and nearly every university.

And the reason Im even posting this is just to remind everyone to support independent Devils journalism when they challenge management and ownership and risk their access whenever you can. When The Athletic had a Devils and Orioles beat, I subscribed. When they dropped those beats, I dropped the Athletic.

This is a bizarre firing, he didn’t make the graphic and Orioles fans knew they sucked.

I remember people complaining our on air talent wasn’t negative enough when we were bad, people do seem to think they can say whatever they want.

Again, this is wild if true. Our on-air talent did say how shitty our record has been.
