This is a bizarre firing, he didn’t make the graphic and Orioles fans knew they sucked.

I remember people complaining our on air talent wasn’t negative enough when we were bad, people do seem to think they can say whatever they want.

Again, this is wild if true. Our on-air talent did say how shitty our record has been.

Maybe they made the graphic at his behest?

And I certainly don’t see that as a fireable offense but that was a pretty serious dump. If they still sucked i can see it. But they no longer do.

Our bottom 6 was a bit of a mess and we couldn’t put together a 3rd line that could
take the difficult minutes Nico’s line had.

If we had a shut-down 3rd line that could handle more and/or Jack’s line wasn’t getting such soft minutes then Nico wouldn’t have to do so much heavy lifting.

Bergeron is more than a decade older than Nico and just retired, so it’s not a surprise he played a less than Nico last season.

I would like another line to pick up the slack but it has to happen first. Not hypothetically in these conversations but on the ice, so I’ll believe when I see it.

I did look around a bit for other comps. Ie talented 2 way fwds who played a heavily defensive work load.

Barkov played about the same pk minutes and about the same d zone face off

Marner actually played more on the PK but had a 64% o zone face off.

Those were the 2 names that jumped out when looking at pk toi leaderrs

So at least one other high end 2 way player is playing similarly tough minutes.

But I stand by my point. Especially with Nosek in the mix,(moreso if Mcleod stays in the mix) and if Haula is the 3rd line center. That has potential for a really good defensive bottom 6.

We (or at least some have) talked about Nico’s relative ineffectiveness on the pp. Ease his d responsibilities a bit and let him focus on his PP game.

Still listening to the interview, but Fitz mentioned that he was talking to Poile at the deadline (in the context of them doing that draft day trade for fun). I wonder who they might have been discussing, maybe Nino Niederreiter as a backup plan if the Timo trade didn't come to fruition?

The one dude asked about Casey "flying under the radar" and Fitz laughing at that saying it wasn't true and teams always ask about him was a great sign.

Edit: Also talking about Holtz and what they need from him and Fitz taking blame for his slower development.....

I'll say this, I know people have their opinions about anything Barstool, but if you don't listen to this due to some weird hatred, you are doing yourself a disservice, probably one of the better interviews I've ever heard with him.

Rivalries are fun, whether on a team-level, site-level, personal-level whatever....as long as they don't go too far.

HFBoards type of Devils fan discourse and Twitter-level fan discourse are basically polar opposite. Bratt Pack clearly appeals to the latter, and people like me read HFBoards and avoid Twitter for a reason. So I don't see any problem with hating on him.

You guys really should see the Devils' Instagram community that popped up around last playoffs. Accounts with the names of Jesper Bruhqvist, John Memerino, Jonas Mementhaler.....etc. Clearly a bunch of teenagers making absolutely awful memes on purpose. Just absolute comedy gold if you are into cringe humor. I was gonna repost some of them here for one of the game threads if we hadn't flamed out of the Canes series so early.
