Even then I’d still rather have Bo around. If he just flat out wanted out then fine. If it was a Fitz decision then I disagree with that. Also when we already have Lazar I’d rather have Bo as the other extra than Nosek. Lazar and Nosek as 13/14 forwards should be strictly 4th line replacements. I’d rather have one of them and one of a Bo type that can play higher if need be
I think Bo is basically the newest version of Kuokkanen. A guy you like. A guy who can play in various spots throughout the lineup although you don't really want him to have to. But ultimately a guy who is rather forgettable and easily replaced. Having said that, I was/am still a pretty big supporter but I think what I said is still accurate.

NJ has waited a long time for Thompson and Foote. Hopefully one of them shows something worth keeping in camp. It would be shame to lose them on waivers without getting a fairly long look in real games but on another level it's a sign the team is really turning the corner.
I thought they changed course on Foote a couple years ago so as to groom him more towards a physical defensive role. I think they see him differently the thompson.

If a coaching staff moves Mercer out of the top 6 for Haula they should be flogged and publicly humiliated by large crowds throwing tomatoes and soiled baby diapers at them while chained to the Brodeur statue in the plaza.
If Mercer is on the 3rd line it is because they are looking to role as a top 9 team as opposed to a top 6 team. Which is something Fitz just talked about.

A good 3rd line likely feasts against easier matchups.

I'm not saying they should, but they might. Jack is still terrible at faceoffs, and iffy defensively, and for those reasons Haula was stapled to him for large stretches of last season. If they go that route, Mercer is obviously the guy who gets bumped down.

In any case, we all know that Ruff loves to bingo-ball the lines more than any coach we've had since Lemaire. If you're mad that Mercer isn't being played in the top 6, just wait a couple shifts, it'll change.

Jack’s on ice numbers with and without Haula are practically identical. Haula’s irrelevant to Hughes and the dinosaur needs to recognize it.

I don't understand the Boqvist love. Easily replaceable player with no special teams ability and was sat in the playoffs. Nosek actually fits a niche as an in zone defensive forward that can PK.
Well, he’s fast and can crack an NHL roster. Apparently that trumps anything else?

No, it's not. Those players never went on to have NHL careers. Boqvist is an NHL-level player, he is not a body, nor is he a prospect, but he's a player of limited utility. He may flourish elsewhere, but I doubt it.

I like Boqvist, I see this more that he was going to get squeezed so he was better of going to a team where he would have more opportunity.

They want center depth and they want to give Foote a chance. Boqvist needs to play or he won’t stay in the league so putting him the press box is a kind of a dick move.

I don’t think Boqvist wanted to be here, which is why i think Fitz probably looked for a trade and ultimately decided to let him go. Boqvist knows he’d be playing for the same coach that thought Miles Wood was better. He knows the Devils are bringing in more depth and that he has no chance at a top-6 role barring an extremely unlucky run of injuries (i just knocked on SO MUCH wood).

Obviously Fitz could have brought him back anyway, or let him sit out without a contract, or let leak that Boqvist demanded a trade or wasn’t happy with his role. But i think Fitzgerald’s garnering a really good reputation amongst the league’s players, and he knows that a few small good deeds can snowball into players like Meier taking discounts because they believe in the team and its culture.

Yeah, I think this is why he cut him loose.

A GM shouldn’t chain guys to the radiator for depth and/or jerk them around all season (until they’re lost on waivers and/or ask for a trade).

It doesn’t feel great to lose Boqvist for nothing but it was a nice thing to do if he wasn’t in our future plans.

Why does it say Nico is Mew but has a picture of a Magmar?
I'm not a Pokemon nerd. Now if we're talking Star Wars I know plenty of useless nerd stuff. Hell, my username is half from the Devils and half from an obscure nickname a character had in an old EU book that used to be my username on multiple Star Wars forums back in the day (before I got tired of the constant bitching back and forth in that fandom).

I'm really hoping one of the young guys, especially Holtz, can step up this year. Our top 6 is fantastic. We have great 4th line talent. The final piece is to round out that 3rd line and more importantly provide us with injury depth. I'd rather not have to move up one of the 4th liners to the 3rd line in case of injury.

Palat and Haula on the 3rd line is already very good. As you said, hopefully the RW on their can carry his own and make us have one of the best 3rd lines in the league.

3ice was fun but I would definitely never pay for it. They really should have done something more with their uniforms, each team having their own color makes sense but they should have different designs. Everything looks like practice jerseys.

Not a lot of people there and most that were probably had comped tickets from the Devils. I really have no idea how this thing is making money.

Poor Jeremy Brodeur had a rough night, didn't help that his team looked like the worst of the 4. He got a nice response from the crowd though and I'm sure he's disappointed he didn't play better here.

Raymond Bourque got some boos too. I couldn't root for his team either lol

Rules wise I like the penalty shot rule that is like a running play that keeps the puck in play if the shooter misses the net. Penalty shots don't happen enough in the NHL for me to want to see the rule but for this since every penalty is a penalty shot it made sense.

Nice that you’ve stayed here for the constant bitching back and forth in this fandom.

:)
