lol. someone actually defending the Clowe contract. Yikes.
Good god dude, where do you get that I'm defending the contract?

I'm just correcting a wildly inaccurate statement/claim you made that he scored 3 goals in 2 seasons. He never scored 3 goals in 2 seasons.

We SHOULDN'T have signed him, but the fact that maybe the worst UFA contract in the history of the league was signed on the same day..... Maybe that takes some of the heat off of him. Not to mention he was signed to replace the guy that was signed to that worst UFA contract in the history of the league.

That contract was destined for LTIR from the start. Clarkson's really wasn't, though he ended up being not too far behind him on perma-LTIR island.

Ruff flips lines all the time at one point they had Meier on the third line so it’s unlikely to know at this point.

I see at least top 6 playing time and pp2?

I would assume, Hughes,Meier,Bratt, hischier get priority over him on pp 1
Toffoli is a good PP player. I think he pushes Bratt potentially to PP2.

I think Toffoli would probably play either down low or in the bumper role on the PP. Him being a right shot will help on that front and was something missing on that front last season.

Nico
Hughes-Toffoli-Bratt/Meier
Hamilton

Haula/Palat
Holtz-Mercer-Bratt/Meier
Hughes

He also played half-wall at times in Calgary too but usually Jack plays on that side so doubt they would change that

i feel like Meier moving around was to find chemistry

hopefully he gets stable linemates

im not a big fan of rotating lines a lot

..but im also not an NHL coach!

He was a bull too, he had a unique mix of skill and toughness.

He should have won a cup here, but it is what it is.

All the offensive records he could have ended up breaking here will instead be broken by Jack

We probably beat the Kings if Kovy isn't playing with a broken back.

I don’t see how because taffolli is a right handed shot and the one timer option would be gone since Hughes is a left handed shot on the other half wall unless you flip those two.

I personally think Meier should be in the Bratt spot

Good God, I just woke up from a dream where I had to do a performance review on Michael McLeod and ranked him "need improvement".

I think I was reading that post about the announcement supposedly today (from the mainboard) and fell asleep shortly after right away.

I hope he is not implicated in that mess.... And if he is, how is team going to respond (or league)...

Kovy was flashier than Hall, but I think what Hall did in his MVP season was more impressive. Dude had 41 more points than the next closest Devil.

This is exactly it and why people think Kovy was better. Hall was much better.

If Toffoli’s on PP1 then I’m definitely keeping Bratt over Meier. We don’t need 4 guys who are going to just sling pucks at the net. If Toffoli’s on PP1 then I imagine it’s him and Nico as the bumper/net front guys interchanging at times. Bratt’s going to use Toffoli as a one time option in the slot a lot more than Meier will. The PP is like the only area I actually care that Jack sucks at draws. If he was good then we could take Nico off of PP1 and have all of Bratt, Toffoli, Meier no issue

not that I think Tierney is any good, but he has only played in 20 games in the AHL the past 6-7 years and that was last year.

maybe nothing, maybe something but I don't think this is good news for McLeod...
I think we've still needed a 14th forward anyways, assuming these were the guys already penciled in.

Meier - Hischier - Mercer
Bratt - Hughes - Toffoli
Palat - Haula - Holtz
Foote - McLeod - Bastian
Lazar, XXX

He more than likely fills the last XXX for the forward group. I do agree, the timing is definitely interesting, but he still fills a hole we've yet to fill this offseason.

I mean, either way the Devils need a player like this - they need more L shots on the NHL fringes, as almost all of the potential callups from Utica are right shots.
