Neat trick to use 3 years for a 32 year old player....hey let's dip back into his 20's...Yegor gets more time this season 3 on 3 and you only assume the gap will be significantly wider next season

It’s the longest sample that can be used on NaturalStatTrick, that’s why I used 3 years.

Just using this season, Toffoli has 1:41, Yegor has 2:14. Toffoli out there for 1 goal (he scored) 0 against with 3 shots. Yegor out there for 0 goals, 1 against with 0 shots.

Their two careers are going in opposite directions one is 32 and the other is 25 and was still breaking into the league 3 years ago.

But I'm sure Yegor's 2:14 is still higher on the Calgary depth chart than Tyler's 1:41 is on ours.

I just did a quick check...Bratt is 10:59 Meier is 6:12 Mercer is 3:57. That's just wingers not counting Jack and Nico...

McLeod was 1:44 and just took the face and got off most of the time. Toffolli is not a part of a 3 on 3 attack

I will never understand the hand-wringing over Sharangovich. This is a player that was a healthy scratch in the playoffs. His time here was up.

He is shooting 18% this year. His career % coming into this year was 12.8%. Good for him for having a nice season, but we aren't missing him.

Luckily it’s completely and totally irrelevant considering we have the best 3 on 3 player in the league and Sharangovich isn’t any good in that game state anyway.

I also don’t see how their careers are going in opposite directions. Sharangovich was bad defensively with a good shot, is bad defensively with a good shot. Toffoli is also on pace for a career high in goals and putting up fine territorial numbers.

Trading Sharangovich for Toffoli made a lot of sense at the time. We were expecting to take another step this year, trading for a veteran top 6 winger that's won before was a big addition for a team with bigger playoff aspirations. Sharangovich was also passed in the depth chart last season.

Obviously hindsight is 20/20 here, things haven't worked as well as we wanted so far. But I can't be mad at the trade at all.

I think everyone underestimated what losing Graves and Severson meant

I don't think anyone expected what we've gotten from the first full season of Meier.

I think many of us thought Schmid was going to be at least a viable backup.

Then there's the injuries that hit us like a ton of bricks.

Everything that could go wrong did....

Yet we are still very much in the hunt.

We wouldn't bring Toff back because by next season I could lap him in a skating race, and I'm not a good skater...

listen i dunno what fantasy land you guys live in where you think you can build a team of perfect players for the perfect window that actually have to want to come here on i'm assuming reasonable contracts but more power to you if you think they are out there.

everyone gives me all the bad about toff and how he is about to be broken down then they say hes going to get a max massive contract. what one is it?

Just glad we don't have to wait until several days after the season starts to finally catch a Devils game.

This isn’t the time to suddenly make a goalie move. That should have happened months ago. If they make this trade and miss thr playoffs which is still easy to do you’ve given away part of the future for nothing. Not worth it.
The trade wouldn’t just be for this season. It would be for this and the remainder of his contract. By then we should have an idea a to what we got in net to come after him, or a cup by then. If daws plays the way he does along with Markstrom that’s a dangerous team that can go on a run and they’re only 2 points out of a wildcard spot (which is better for them so they don’t get matched with the canes first round).

The trade should have happened months ago, but it also could’ve been even more expensive to acquire one. One closer to the deadline might drop the price slightly.

So I highly disagree. You get the goalie now and if you make the run to the playoffs with him great, if not you got him the next 2 full seasons and hopefully a new staff by then too.
