I kind of get it though. He’s scoring and I appreciate it, but his speed (or huge lack thereof) is a detriment.

so no one o28
No one “slow”

does it matter if they can score or not or do you just want young speed?

Remember the guy that we traded for Toffolli?
Ah the guy that’s scored twice in 10 games and outside of his hot stretch of 9g in 10 games has pretty much done what he did here where he couldn’t even crack the lineup in the playoffs.

Holtz hasn’t even remotely earned the right to be mentioned in the same production level as Toff.

Holtz might end up there someday but I doubt it’s with the devils. I rather keep him and deal Casey

Uh, look at the situations they play in, their total play time, and the quality of their linemates and get back to me.

Yes, Toff is a better player right now, but that's probably not going to be the case much longer. The guy can barely even skate from one end of the ice to the other before his shift is over.

Young
Proven
Cheap

Pick any two and you're not getting the third.
I agree people have to stop trying to acquire the perfect player in the perfect situation and window it’s not realistic. Be happy toff is putting up what he’s putting up imo ink him to a two year deal 3 if you have to and move on

I’m 70-30 that the supposed insider was bullshit

What’s funny is that the “insider” basically just said that talks had been re-engaged and then it seemed to spin out of control on their board.

You're assuming Toffoli would take a sweet heart deal in his last chance to get paid though, lol

I can only go by what’s presented. Sure maybe holtz takes off maybe he doesn’t I don’t know. I like holtz but he’s expendable if it brings us a goalie. I much rather give up Casey then holtz but I understand you have to give to get.

The problem then is you are cutting off your nose to spite your face. We should not even be considering bringing Toffoli back and without him or Holtz, you have a pretty big hole to fill in the top 6.

Yeah I am assuming that he did say when he was traded here he wanted to resign here or something close to that. Have to see how it unfolds. You’re assuming he wants a max longer deal. Maybe? Maybe not?

Why wouldn’t we bring toff back? Is there some young proven goal scorer that wants to sign here in the summer? Please let me know

I think Fitz said it was wait and see, but I'm just saying why would Toffoli limit his options? He's already won a cup and been on multiple runs, I can't see him personally using that as a reason to want to stay here more so than getting one last bag for his family. But you're right, who truly knows

Man if you can't trust a random message board post of a cowboy riding off into the sunset with zero details or justification what can you trust.

There's a ton of smoke to this but yeah, I have no clue wtf is going on lol

I want him to sign cheap if he wants a ton of money then see ya. I’m sure other teams are just as cautious with age but someone could be stupid.

You're assuming that Sharangovich would have been used in the same ways Toffoli has been here, which he clearly would not have.

Outside of that hot streak his year is looking a lot different. People “upset” over Shara gone are the same thinking with Zacha

I liked the Haula deal honestly. After he resigned I liked it even more. Haula can do a lot of different things that help a team win... Toffolli can't.

That’s true scoring goals is def at the bottom of ways to win games.

I'm not trying to underplay the importance of goal scoring. It's definitely crucial but you can't ignore how deficient the rest of his game is.

If this guy is only a 20 goal scorer he's pretty much useless. It's nice we are reaping the benefit of his scoring right now but I wouldn't bet on it being consistent for much longer than a year

I mean the uptick in Sharangovich's production is almost entirely due to Calgary putting him on the PP, something we didn't do. 2023 was rough for him especially after the Meier deal, but compare '22 Sharangovich to '24 Sharangovich:

2022
76 games
20 ES goals (.263/game)
41 ES points (.539/game)
3 PP points (.039/game)
2 SH points (.026/game)
52.15 CF%
52.93 xGF%

2024
54 games
14 ES goals (.259/game)
22 ES points (.407/game)
8 PP points (.148/game)
6 SH points (!) (.079/game)
47.64 CF%
47.83 xGF%

So yeah, his ES offense dropped slightly and his ES defense dropped significantly. He's just getting more time on special teams.

Sharangovich currently playing Center, if the center coming down low in the defensive zone and Jack Hughes playing winger to lead to transition offense is a long term plan for this team, then they really could use Sharangovich actually. Right now Haula is doing that job and the Center depth looks weak as a result. This team really could have this year lost Hughes, Mercer (who looks miscast there), and McLeod as options at C.

If Sharangovich is just a winger then he didn't really fit, which is what was revealed last year.
