LOL @ that person on the main board pointing out that Vanecek has been fine and is a .900% since Dougie got injured, which is only slightly lower than Saros, Shesterkin and Gibson.

Those guys have actually been over .900% on the season. Vanecek has not been.

They aren’t a Devils fan.

Ok let’s do this then

12 goals on pace for 20 with 11 minutes of ice time while playing pp2 minutes

He will score 30 if given the proper the ice time and situation which looks like it won’t be here
So he’s only going to score 10 more goals then what he will get now with pp1 and more ice time ?

Pierre LeBrun on TSN last night also reported deal not at all dead. So not just message board commandos.

Doesn’t always have to be a star

It may very likely come down too would you rather pay toffoli on a long term deal or give those minutes to Holtz to try and replace that production on a cheaper more cost controlled deal
“Long term” for toff can mean a lot. I’m fine with 3 years for him. So say you give that to holtz what happens if he doesn’t take off and run with it

I think players in their 30s understand that "long term" means something different for them than it does for 21 year old. Haula got a 3 year deal and was thrilled that he could finally settle down.

Giving Toffoli 2-3 years in the ~5M range would be fine with me

Maybe, I just think he's going to have better offers than that. I don't know why he's not getting the palat deal at least

We cant trade holtz and his 20g potential!

Dont worry we can bring toff back with his 30 goals.

Nah I don’t want toff and his 30g lol

I do not want Markstrom. He’s too old. I don’t get it

Holtz? Casey? MERCER? No. None of those players

Saros? Better, although he turns 29 soon.

Is Fleury no longer an option?

That's the guy (if he'll come here).

Should be cheap and temporary.

I don't think Toffolli fits here personally. I wouldn't support a multi year deal for him honestly.

Toffoli is a complementary player, who is able to score goals playing with Hughes (to be sure, a valuable skill) but doesn't provide much else otherwise. He's not a core player.

Giving him a long term deal, like anything more than 2 years, would be like giving that deal to Tatar.

Toffoli absolutely “fits” here. He’s pacing for 36 goals, something is working well.

“Fits” in a long term sense is a different story.

I’m awaiting 32 Thoughts to drop. Elliot has some good sources with us I think. If something is brewing he will definitely bring it up. Also Marek has been waxing of a “blockbuster” between us and Calgary for a while now.

It’s already available on the Apple Podcasts app.

I haven’t listened to it yet but it says it dropped 3 hours ago.

so a guy who has remained healthy and is on pace to net almost 40 goals is not a fit...the things i learn on this board are just incredible

The Calgary "insider," who has apparently broken multiple trades before they've happened, is saying that the deal has been agreed to and that Mercer is "likely" part of the return.

I agree that it doesn't make any sense, but you know how the internet is. There's too much smoke for there not to be fire, but that doesn't mean every single word is true. I suspect there is a deal being worked on, but I think the Mercer part is an exaggeration to get eyes on his rumor.
I’m assuming it would be for more than just Markstrom if Mercer was involved (ie Hanifin)
