I just don't want this guy.

I don't have an issue with the player at all. I think there's a ton of risk involved, but I know Kevin Woodley is very bullish on his fit with the devils.

But 34 years old is really tough to not be concerned about when you have a recent history of older goalies blowing up on you.

I just don't have much interest in doing this now. This team is not a contender. It's closer to picking in the top 9 than it is the playoffs.

Trade the 1st + Prospect for Markstrom. Keep our own first in case we do bomb out of the playoffs
Try and trade Vitek but if we cant just hold onto him till the offseason.
Try to use the DAL 4th on a Depth Physical Bottom 6 Winger

Meier - Nico - Bratt
Palat - Hughes - Mercer
Lazar - Haula - Kaliyev / Holtz
Kaliyev / Holtz - Nosek - Bastian / Depth Forward we use the DAL 4th on

Bahl - Marino
Hughes - Nemec

Looks decent to me.

I don't think we will get Kaliyev and a first I'd take it just don't think that will happen

Without retention, the 1st would not be on the table for Markstrom for me. Way too much risk involved with that cap hit for a goalie that age.

Agree, that should pretty much crater the value...which may make it not worthwhile for the Flames lol

NY is the media capital of the country. Getting an announcer position here is valuable. Doc was excellent, Cangi was excellent, and Spaulding is as well. The Devils have the choice of the best up and coming guys in the business and they've taken advantage of it.

Its funny that the Rangers are stuck with Rosen, who is past his prime and has fallen well below the standards set currently. They could have a choice of the best guys in the country but instead have to suffer.

Don't forget Gary Thorne.

I’m pretty confident that’s not true. That’s definitely Cangi’s body or else I’ve never seen it before.

i will say though im getting to the point where its late for fitz to even make the move and just do it in the summer. i'm not there yet but its closing in he should've pulled the trigger in dec.


i also still believe that even if the devils miss the playoffs ruff wont be gone until he gets a stretch with a different goalie.

The plus side with Markstrom is it gives us a two year stop gap until Daws is fully developed and ready to be trusted to be a number one goaltender.

Saros is the better player but Markstrom is probably the better option for where we are right now

It almost has to. Casey wouldn't be enough unless they're really valuing him at an incredibly high level. They could be banking on the presumable first going the other way falling even further though.

Our PP could use a Noesen.. don't remember a true net front presence recently. Timo's big body had some success just screening the goaltender last season but we've had nothing like that this year..

Noesen as the type of a player is what this team really needs. Both for top and bottom six.

With zero retention I'm kind of at the point where they can have one of Holtz or our 1st, but they won't get both and they definitely don't get Mercer.
