Dougie missing the rest of the regular season and Siegenthaler breaking his foot aren't exactly something you plan on happening. The margin for error was definitely less without as much depth though.

Add to that Marino regressing from last season.

I’ve seen Button have some wild draft rankings and quite frankly, don’t take him very seriously. Casey not being in his top 50 prospects solidifies my opinion on Button. Of course Lane Hutson is at 16 though!

You guys hit the nail on the head….at least from my vantage point.
The fact that he had an 18-year-old center named Will "I don't smack anyone" Smith at #3 says all there needs to be said at his ranking legitimacy.

(yeah I know Smith played very well but my point is he's listed as if he's a top pick in the draft or something; meanwhile Casey is treated like he's an undrafted shmuck off the street not even worth of a mention)

Like I said

It would be the most 23-24 Devils thing to win tonight’s game, everybody is high again and then lose on Saturday afternoon to terrible Montreal. Who we’ve already lost our one home game against this year.
I won't be "high" at all.

I'd be like "so?"

And patiently wait for the Habs game expecting the scheduled EGG that the Devils will lay then.

Maybe beat both the Rags AND the habs...and then I MIGHT be a little bit joyous.

Will Smith is one of the best college hockey players in the nation right now. In the top 3 in points per game.
Don't care. :boredom:

I only brought him up because of his name mostly. And I did point out in a ninja-edit that he was playing very well.

Regardless, Casey should be listed but he's not so Button is a Buffoon and his rankings are garbage because of it.

yeah because the healthcare in this country is really on the up and up

I'm literally left leaning so I know our healthcare is trash as you can find but what the literal f*** does that have to do with anything? We're really arguing that one isn't better than the other logistically?

I think the list of D are considering level of competition

there's a few AHL/KHL D-men (including Edvinsson, Shakir) in there that are probably ready to step into the NHL more than Casey is. If UMich was better/if Casey was carrying the team, I think there'd be an argument. but he only has 5 goals, and you could argue his point production is just a product of right place/right time (so it might not be enough to elevate him). I'd assume he's also taking into account DEFENSIVE skills

rankings are bogus anyway, so it'd be good to surprise everyone

Neither team conducted a morning skate Thursday. ... Panarin and Vesey each is day to day with a lower-body injury. ... Shesterkin is expected to make his fifth start in six games after making 41 saves in a 3-1 win against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. ... Othmann, a forward, was recalled from Hartford of the American Hockey League on Thursday. ... Devils goalie Akira Schmid was assigned to Utica of the AHL and Poulter was recalled from Utica on Wednesday. ... Marino is questionable after the defenseman missed a 6-2 loss at the Washington Capitals on Tuesday and practice Wednesday. ... Vanecek, a goalie, will miss his sixth straight game. ... Daws missed practice Wednesday but is expected to start for the sixth consecutive time.

I try not to get too annoyed with Button's rankings. Nobody's gonna produce a perfect list. Although he's had some head scratchers over the years. I couldn't help but notice that he gave a boost to certain Flames/Coyotes prospects in his old lists. His brother is the director of scouting for the Flames. Button worked a lot with Tim Bernhardt in Dallas and Bernhardt was with Arizona from 2011-18.

One year Flames prospect Tyler Parsons was his #12 prospect (fresh off winning WJC Gold). Another year Coyotes prospect Jan Jenik was in his top 10 and ranked higher than guys like Zegras/Cozens/Caufield.

Been watching a bit of BC this year. Hard to tell how good someone truly is when the team is so strong. That team is very good with tons of chemistry.

That said every time I have watch BC, Gabriel Perreault and Cutter Gauthier stood out.

Hey wait the Devils are making even more money yet increased prices by 9% for season ticket holders. What a shocker! Guess our owners need more money for their helicopter flights!

Also you guys remember when the ad helmets were just "temporary" because the poor league and players really needed help because of the bubble and covid. We all knew that was the f***ing start of the ball rolling. Then it was digital ads on the boards and now this. It's a f***ing joke and I'm beyond sick and tired of ads and corporate bullshit. The lower backs of the jerseys will be next, just a matter of when not if.

Seems to be absolutely 0 hype for tonight’s game. Rivalry, at home, very much in the playoff race.

Makes me sad, man. Dark times lmao.

I used my buybacks for tonight's game, been waiting for the game day thread to get into the why. Them getting even more money for the ad on the jersey made me even happier that I made that decision.

I'm not sure Guentzel moves, I'm not sure Buchnevich moves, I don't think he's behind Tarasenko, a player who was rented last season and had little interest in the offseason, and I'm not convinced he's behind Vatrano, a player having a career year who was rented for a 4th round pick two years ago (or that Anaheim will trade Vatrano).

Yeah, that’s fair. It’s not out of the question that Toffoli ends up being the best winger available on the market.

I still don’t think we’ll get a 1st round pick for him, but I hope I’m wrong.

How many generations before they start plastering ads on natural landmarks and renaming the national parks after mega corporations?

I’m extremely grateful to Cutter for forcing his way out of Philly. I was dreading him being a divisional foe for the next decade plus.
