2 good goaltending seasons would be incredible with the talent this roster has. We’ll deal with the “then what” when that day comes. Daws could easily be a stud by then too.

If it’s Holtz, it really wouldn’t be much of a blow.

I disagree I don’t mind it but to give up a massive haul and then only ink him to what 4 year deal? Dang this is just for in general not directed to you. If your giving that much up you have to give him long term

Just go with markstrom he gets us 2-3 years hopefully and can see where things are then

yes, I would much rather give Saros 4 years no matter what we give up

I don't like being tied to a goalie for 7 years. No matter who it is.

Chances are Saros is gonna get a hefty deal from his next team like Helly did but I do agree with ZBC's principle of keeping it short with goaltenders. Goalies are insane voodoo that they can blow up in your face relatively quickly, would be nice to have that flexibility for future years just in case

In two years it will be some other goalies who develop and there will always be goalies available for an overpay. The issue is finding some way to develop your own. Maybe now that NJ is playing a non idiotic defense they can do that with Daws and Schmid.

That's what I'm hoping for to end this year but they 100% do need a goalie from the outside for 24-25. You can't go into next year with Vanecek as the starter or someone who can't eat a hefty amount of games

Sure but look at a team like LA. They have two meh goalies but play solid defense and the meh goalies are holding up. Get a decent vet and play well in front of him and they will be ok. Maybe sign Quick for a year or something like that.

Yeah but I think LAK's issue is that they have 15-16M tied into two floaters. If you told them would you rather Helly or PLD/Fiala right now, the answer would be different than the route they actually did.I think NJ needs a stud in net also to offset the Lindy bullshit too if he's still on the bench next year. (FFS lol)
