I mean, no one is really going except the guys who play with Jack so whatever. I would love to see the lines get some chemistry, but that's not something we are realistically ever going to get with Ruff.

I normally don't care too much about lines but what in the hell are we doing here? Holtz has been the best player on his line (Not saying much) so he gets demoted? Just don't get that.

This I do agree with. The organization seems to dislike him.

Agreed. If Lindy is not going to put Holtz in a place to succeed, just trade him. I’m so sick and tired of how he’s been handled. Sticking the kid with McLeod and Bastian is not going to unlock his offensive potential. Try him on Nico’s line…while he wasn’t good in the last game, he has shown signs of improvement in every game prior to that. The 4th line should play a heavy game. This is just a bizarre idea.

I think it's about promoting Lazar, who's looked very effective to me, to try and get the 3rd line going.
Lazar is 28 and has played over 450 games in the league and doesn’t even have 100 points. There is no promoting him.

He doesn’t even have a regular season point in 9 games with the Devils.

He was better than both Haula and Mercer. Palat’s also doing nothing besides f***ing up Bratt’s set ups so might as well give Holtz the shot to bury them.

Haula and Mercer have stunk so it’s not a bad idea to get Holtz away from them. I just don’t think the combos he went with make much sense.

Of course not because Lindy hates Holtz and likely doesn’t see it that way. He’s not getting Holtz away from Haula and Mercer. He’s getting Haula and Mercer away from Holtz.

I mean get him on the 3rd line to do the dirty work to get it going.

there's probably a better chance for Holtz to get more ice time with Mcleod than with the way Haula/Mercer are playing rn and Mcleod at the moment is better at carrying the puck/breaking it out so it could help him too. Wouldn't be really surprised if that line is actually the 'third' line in ice time.

I think it's more likely that Holtz is off that line by the third period and it's a rotating double shift of Haula/Meier/Palat there.

How is he supposed to get it going? He’s not a good offensive player. Him on the 3rd line gives a better chance of them staying off the board.

If anything, I’m not sure that’s a promotion for Lazar as much as it’s a “you’ve sucked and now you get to play with Lazar” demotion for Mercer.

I don’t expect it to last long, regardless.

Palat could do the same exact shit with better offensive talent. Then you put Holtz into Palat’s spot as Nico and Bratt are going to carry play and Holtz could hopefully convert the plays Palat hasn’t.

Keep the puck in the offensive zone when they gain it, he's been challenging the dangerous areas it seems to me as well from the 4th line. But fair enough, Holtz not being particularly effective (imo) is part of the calculation as well. But I think Lazar brings a physical / board battling element that the third line has been missing, in part because Mercer had been bringing it last year and he hasn't so far.
