tofolli first goal is the exact reason they brought him in. that was a snipe that shara would just never have been able to pull off 85% of the time.

Second goal sure (not the Yegor part though as the one thing you could on him to do was shoot extremely well). First goal was soft as baby shit

looked to me like Nate's best game so far last night. I love his tenaciousness on the boards.
When Nosek is healthy again I'm having a hard time deciding who should come out. I want his f/o ability but I really like the way Lazar is playing too. Hopefully we're faced with that decision and everyone else is healthy.

Good problems.

Watched Haula closely and couldn't spot any wincing or discomfort. I really hope he doesn't have something nagging

Haven’t seen the numbers, but I thought the 4th line played a strong game last night.

Good on the forecheck and got some prolonged shifts in the o-zone on a few occasions. That’s what you want from the 4th line.

I like both Lazar and Nate better than Nosek. Having the left handed faceoff option on that line is really the only reason I could see for putting in Nosek and I'm not putting in a worse player for that reason.

Yeah, at this point Nosek and Tierney are only there as 4th line center insurance. If anyone one of our top three centers miss time, everyone underneath will slot up and then Nosek can go in at #4 C. I think that's the only way he gets in at this point.

Knock off the trolling, name calling and lifting posts from other boards, this is DEVILS team discussion, not personal grievance and poster dunk discussion

I have to say it's surprising that Kakko hasn't taken off. You'd expect a solid, 1st/2nd line type from him, 60-70 pts. I hope it works out for him.

Hughes was definitely a baby deer in his first season but by the second, he was already at what, .6 ppg? As a teenager. And then the year after, cut short by injury, he was over ppg. Then the year after that he set the team points record.

Hey guys, for my fashionista fantasy league, I know Hughes has gotten a few points or whatever those are called but I’m really concerned about this jacket he’s wearing. I’ve dropped Hughes to pick up Mercer.

I don’t even want advice I’m just telling you about a Hughes weakness out of now where because I’m a fun person.

There was guy at the country club where I was a valet parking attendant in my teens that had the same pants that Jack is wearing. Of course, that was in the late 1980s and that guy was about 70 and he drove a Cadillac coupe de Ville that was hopelessly out of fashion even then. Dawson's suit isn't that much better. What tailors are these guys going to? Don't get me started on the sneakers without socks. This stuff isn't sharp, it's just that you can get away with pretty much anything fashionable when you are young.

'Perhaps even 2021?' Laughable. Jack Hughes in 2020-21 controlled play on a garbage team. His top forward linemates that year were, in order, Sharangovich, Kuokkanen, Palmieri, Johnsson, and Bratt. 2 of those guys are out of the NHL, and the other 2 are third liners. He had a 61% xG with Bratt. This is a player you think 'shouldn't have been in the NHL'. He would've absolutely annihilated any other (reasonable) league on the planet.

The thing that was obvious about Jack even from the earliest days was how well he saw the ice. It took him some time to figure out exactly how to translate that into offense. Sorry you couldn't see it happening, because it was a lot of fun to watch - admittedly, some of it was marred by people who couldn't see it, but that's my fault for being here. And also admittedly, most of you guys saw it.
The whole argument is wrong. I have no problem saying that Jack needed to improve. The problem is he needed to improve in the NHL given his abilities and what he needed to improve upon and past is only prologue. Who cares if he needed to improve. It had to happen to get him to where he is now and has been since his third season. The team stunk and who cares if he needed to go through a learning process. If you change anything maybe he gets hurt or turned off to the organization or whatever. It worked out and he's a fantastic player. The argument is grossly oversimplified in my view.

Current style is jacket sleeves too long and pants too short.

Mercer actually has socks on. I zoomed in.

I enjoy an extra short jacket sleeve, so I acknowledge my aggressiveness in that tailoring choice, but generally people’s suit jackets cover their whole shirt sleeve which is technically incorrect and looks worse, imo.

I do like a plaid suit though, so I’m board with both fabric choices.

Need your help devils fans, thinking about picking up Holtz in my fantasy league, how is he playing right now? Is he in jeopardy of being sent to the AHL this season or healthy scratched for anyone?

From what I can tell, he’s playing 2nd PP and on the 3rd line with Haula and Mercer.

He's been better this year and the way he's played he shouldn't be in danger of being sent down or scratched. The offense still hasn't really shone through though.

There is no guarantees yet, but could be a value pick.

He’s getting his footing and has looked good the last couple games.

He’s probably stapled to pp2 and third line for the time being. I doubt they send him down as they seem to want to give him a legit chance

I'll defend Jim on this a bit... For fun. There's a pretty wide gap between wanting your franchise center to be more careful with the puck, or just a more complete player versus thinking Kaako (or any one else in that draft is better).

Jim was pretty clear he loved that we drafted Hughes, no?

As far a +/- goes: yeah, it means less for the 5 guys on Pp1 who pile up obscene points, especially if that unit is on the absolutely sickest run imaginable and is generating lots of opps with their speed.

The absolute best thing Jack did last night was backcheck like a mother. Loved it.

He deserves all the accolades for being the most dominant player in the league, and Gretskyish in my eyes through the first few games.

He has been getting much better with the turnovers and there's still room to grow... Such that when we hit disciplined teams that play playoff hockey (like Florida) we might not have to score three+ goals to come back.

Saying he could improve isn't a silly take.
Saying he isn't good is an absurd take.

Is it a style choice that jacket sleeves are longer or just lazy people? I can buy an off the rack suit here and there and at that point I'm less likely to get it tailored to my specification. The tailoring sort of defeats the purpose. My recollection is a jacket sleeve should typically show about half an inch of the shirt cuff? Of course, the jacket sleeve buttons play a role in that and I do have a fondness for working jacket cuffs. As for the plaid suit, to each their own.

I don't think there was ever a time where Jack didn't belong in the league. Sure he had struggles in year 1, but those struggles highlighted what he had to work on. And maybe for a less confident player(Kakko?) that year season could have hurt his development. But he does not lack for confidence, and in fact he is pretty defiant in the face of struggles.

Year 2 I just don't see an argument for him not belonging in the league. Aside from "he's a #1 pick and should be producing more" which I don't think is a great argument.
I def agree with your year 2.

With perfect hindsight I think him missing year 1 would've been fine if only bc of the injury to his tiny 18yr old body.

That could've happened in the A too, though, where guys are less policed and might want to make a name for themselves, Soo...
