So we need a guy good in front of the net on the PP…
I mean, nah. Contract sucks. Even with retention, the Devils' don't want the term.
This is going to be Palat's job. We have to wait for him to get back.

I would gladly take that contract 50% retained for 1 more year.I mean, nah. Contract sucks. Even with retention, the Devils' don't want the term.

I'd love Henrique at 50%. Perhaps even without retention. I doubt Tatar re-signs for 1 or 2 years, and I think anything more is too much term for Tatar. Rico basically replaces Tatar next year.I mean, nah. Contract sucks. Even with retention, the Devils' don't want the term.

I'm sure they are shopping him but will other teams bite knowing he will be on the FA market this summer. That's the million dollar question? He may be gone by the deadline but he will surely be gone for nothing by years end!Media coverage over the years gives me that impression. It's my opinion, I'm not stating it's a fact.
There is clearly no indication that they want him gone.
At least not before the conclusion of this year.
I don't think any of us want him back after this year, but I still stand by that our lineup is better with him in it. In 2-3 years from now? Maybe not.
Zetterlund can provide some of what Bastian did. I'm thinking the problem is more a top six winger. In my view, you have three forwards that carry almost all of the offensive burden. One more to help spread that around a bit more would be helpful.
To be fair, Graves, Wood, Tatar, and Blackwood are all expiring deals and I'm skeptical any are with NJ next season. I just think that for the team to compete this year they can't move these guys for futures. The remaining players don't care about picks and prospects. They want to win after years of failure.I'm sure they are shopping him but will other teams bite knowing he will be on the FA market this summer. That's the million dollar question? unless severson asks for a trade, i’m not trading him. even as a huge liability, he deserves better than that.
I wouldn't characterize what he does as typical mistakes, per se. It's lazy, bad decision making that he has failed to curtail after 9 friggin years. Indicative of a player that's either a bozo or selfish, or maybe some combination of both. If he wanted to win more and stick around, then he should have improved this part of his game. He had plenty of time. Now he's gonna get hamdsomely paid for being a decent, but very flawed, player. I don't feel the least bit bad for him.He has been outplayed by Marino and Hamilton. He wants to get paid, and almost certainly will. I am disappointed he's been a good soldier and will miss the team improving beyond this season. He's a better defender than he gets credit for even if his mistakes are of the gut punch variety. Hopefully he can get some other team to pay him tip top dollar for many years after this one.
Hey uh....you did see the recent game, right?Boquist and Rango do not bring enough elsewhere, to offset their black-hole board play. Forechecking cream-puffs who lose every "battle", often ending up on the ice.
They are not pieces on a contender...
I'm also not liking what I'm seeing out of Holtz in this regard.
I would gladly take that contract 50% retained for 1 more year.
Maybe with max retention, but I'd rather have more flexibility for next season: They have a lot of guys to re-sign or replace, with Bratt being tops among them.I'd love Henrique at 50%. Perhaps even without retention. I doubt Tatar re-signs for 1 or 2 years, and I think anything more is too much term for Tatar. Rico basically replaces Tatar next year.
This chart is great. The bottom right corner made me chuckle given who both stand out, along with a familiar 3rd name in that quadrant.
The players aren't the ones in charge! I'm sure Fitz wants to win also but there is a plan for the future in place and Severson is not part of that plan. They aren't winning the SC this year, this team needs a lot more work for that but I'm sure those players you mention aren't part of the future either, other than Wood!To be fair, Graves, Wood, Tatar, and Blackwood are all expiring deals and I'm skeptical any are with NJ next season. Lindy ain't f***ing around.
