What’s the road winning streak record? 12? Next three road games are Rags, Jerks and Panthers. We can do it!

Is Lindy surreptitiously keeping Bratt's TOI down so he doesn't accumulate even more eye popping stats, thus reducing how much he can command during negotiations? Because 17 mins per game is ridiculous.

He averaged 17:26 last year and had 73 points in 76 games. He's averaging 17:10 this year and has 27 points in 25 games 17-17:30 minutes might just be where he's most efficient.

He'd also 2nd behind Jack in terms of even strength TOI among forwards.

Severson: He's definitely having a down year and he has friends sending him nasty shit from Twitter all while he knows he's not a priority for this team and is probably odd man out at the deadline/end of season. I'm sure his head space is not good. He's been here for a long time and when the team is finally good, he's going to be shipped out. Kind of feel for him for that. Even if he was having a good season, any contract that is given to him takes Nemec's spot away and he probably knows that. For the team, losing him won't make a difference.

Bratt- I am kind of surprised at the negativity here surrounding him re-signing. I think as soon as Jan 1 hits, he's going to sign his extension really quickly.

And where he's also able to play every game this year and 76 games last year. People don't seem to allow for the possibility that they just don't think Bratt's body can handle 20-22 minutes a night Kovalchuk style. How many wingers his size are playing those kind of minutes?

Patrik Elias had like 18 minutes a night during his 96-point season for goodness sakes and he wasn't that much bigger than Bratt.

We've been down this road with Bratt twice before...once when the team had the hammer, once when he did and neither time did a long-term extension get done. I'm not sure how things are going to appreciably change in January when he has even more of the hammer. One side's gonna have to give in and neither side's shown any inclination to do so.

All of those fights have been over his potential though. Last season he finally had the opportunity to show over a whole season what he's capable of... and Bratt wanted one more season because he thought he could do better. At this point, "he is what he is"

I think the prior disputes were over how good he could be... and now everyone knows how good he is... and in the meantime several comps have popped up around the league as a basis for a deal.

You must think the Devils have an incredible team if they are able to hold players back while have the 2nd best recorrd in the league. If the team was trying to hold his stats back he would not be on PP1.

I mean, we've now seen two negotiations that have pretty much gone to the limit, so I understand the skepticism that he's going to sign as soon as possible this time.
That and if you read between the lines any time Fitz mentions Bratt and his contract status. Feels like the early stages of posturing and putting public pressure on Bratts side to not be asking for the moon if he wants to be a part of what’s been built.

No, unequivocally no. This is nonsense.

So the last 4 games haven’t been our best and we were 8 seconds away from a possible 8 out of 8 points. Pretty good id say

I’m definitely a believer in the mentality that it’s a good sign to win these games. You’re never going to be at your best every single night. To pull out wins in games you arguably did not deserve is a positive sign of where this team is going.

I’m more optimistic about Bratt. If they are already talking my guess a deal ultimately gets done.
are they talking though? i know they’ve reached out, but that doesn’t mean they are negotiating anything. could be just to get a sense of what each side wants and they’re so far away that it’s going to be another game of chicken for one side to compromise

Can we talk about how Chico Resch is the nicest guy in hockey? I chatted with him last night for a solid 5-10 mins about the Devils success, Devils fans and fan behavior. He really is one of the warmest nicest people on earth. I’ve met and spoken with him several times but every time it just reinforces what a total class act the man is.

Nate Bastain was hurt in the first 5 minutes of the Caps game, exactly four games ago. Coincidence?

Wood was out too. ZMW has been pretty solid still. Honestly, Fabian Zetterlund is a beast and we really should be hyping him for Calder talk.

That’s my son. He’s 9 but still. Hahaha.
