I'm not going to lie, I don't think Bratt signs. I'd be shocked if he did tbh.
I wouldn't be surprised either, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he does. What I would be surprised about is that negotiations go quickly and in early January the extension is signed. I expect these negotiations to go on for a long time and for it to be messy. Chances of him signing/not signing are 50/50.

So your taking the Switzerland approach to your prediction.

Come down to Philly to see them in it tonight. I could use another bodyguard.
I was actually going to go and was looking forward to checking out Philly since I'm trying to see more road arenas. My dumbass boss f***ed those plans up unfortunately.

Pretty accurate haha. But in all seriousness its just hard to predict what will happen (Short of Bratt stating that he wants $10-10.5, or Fitz offering $7...)
I’m not sure about Bratt’s agent but I’ve settled some cars where no matter what you offer the other side thinks there is more available. In those instances you have to walk away and maybe they revisit it with you on the courthouse steps. The problem here is that of NJ doesn’t see a resolution with the agent they can trade Bratt which would be disappointing to say the least. I don’t think the value is that much of a mystery anymore. The only real issue is that there is a reasonable number - maybe $8.5 mil or so - and the Dubas number - above $9 mil or so. If Bratt’s agent won’t budge off the Dubas number period end of discussion they could be at an impasse.

Then tell him he can wipe his tears playing on a shitty team with the extra $500k or, if he wants to be a part of something special, sign on the dotted line.

100% agree. Both sides will need to give up something for this to work. In the end it's Bratt's decision, not his agent's. He knows the team, he knows the potential for what could be with this core, but if to him that extra $500k-750k is that important, well then that's on him...

Without the injuries, yeah. I think he wants a bag that NJ shouldn't offer, I think he'll have a hard time finding the contract he/his agents think he should get too.
But deGrom without injuries is the most dominant pitcher in the history of Major League Baseball and would deserve every dime of that contract lol. Bratt does deserve to get paid, it’s not like he’s some mediocre guy that wants star pay. He’s a star.

That’s a fairly sweeping statement about DeGrom.

Whatever with this guy. Still managing to be a negative +/- on the team with the highest 5v5 goal differential.

At least Wood makes these comments and backs them up with his play.

Nobody is scoring when Damon is on the ice, and the goalie's also not making saves. Some of that is probably Damon, of course, he can't seem to defend a 2 on 1, but it's not his fault people can't seem to score when he's out there.

Purely by stuff, no starting pitcher is really close to him in my opinion. Pitchers have never thrown harder and he’s a cut above everyone. And his actual results when on the mound were absurd from 2018-21. Only 15 starts (story of his career), but I’ve never seen anything like what he did in 2021.

I'm going to stay on the optimistic side of the tracks here regarding Bratt (big surprise, i know) and say he re-signs before the season ends.

I don't think Bratt likes the distraction this is bringing him.

You all know that this must be constantly weighing on his mind each time he takes the ice.

I would like to think he'd want these contract negotiations to end sooner rather than drag on.

He’s been steady so far in looking for what he wants. I don’t see that changing.
