I'm really tired of the Holtz experiment at this point. And I don't know if I'm more unhappy with him or the staff/management for not sending him down. I think I'd blame them more. This has gone on too long, it's time to pull the plug on it for now.

Anyway, I'm really feeling at least another point tomorrow afternoon.

Just keep Vanecek in there.

I'll be happy with a point, but Canes are overdo for a L. Plus afternoon games can be weird

Hey, it's not a hockey post but I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year's. I love the community we've established on the Devils HFBoards and I'm thankful for all of you folks.
You are welcome. I’m glad my posts add so much to our Devils’ fan base. Not enough posters recognize my brilliance

Why do you think he has been elite on PK? Because of the team's success?
Boqvist isn't on the first or second PK unit.
Hischier, McLeod, Huala, Sharangovich are stables. Bastian would play ahead of him when back and possibly Mercer too.

He's like a fourth unit PK option who only sees PK time if the team takes too many penalties. If there was only 2-3 penalties taken per game, I doubt Boqvist sees any PK time at all.

This is the last 10 games. Yes he is 3rd out but it's obvious he is good at it and.Lindy is gaining confidence having him out there.

As I said last year, he had a knack for filling lanes in the neutral zone. With his speed and intuition for clogging lanes, it was obvious he would be a good PKer.

"Top 10 NHL Forward" Jesper Bratt is now barely top 50 in scoring among forwards. That didn't age well.

First 18 games - 100 point pace
Last 18 games - 55 point pace

I don't envy Fitz.
I think it ultimately helps Fitz in the negotiation.

I know Jack Hughes contract is a steal but for Bratt to get paid potentially more than Jack doesn't sit well with me.

The Kevin Fiala contract is where I hope Fitz lands with Bratt.

He allows less expected goals allowed per 60 than all the other forward PKers over the past 10 games. Sure he usually sees 2nd unit but these are exceptional numbers.

I added comments below the photo as well.
He definitely has a skill set that will translate well to playing PK now that he seems much improved with his board play etc.

Hopefully the team starts to give him more minutes outside of the “our PK forwards are gassed” minutes. Would be really nice to be able to take Hischier off of PK1 minutes if possible.

This is why I say, he’s somewhere in the middle. No player is that precisely consistent all season on.

This all brings me back to the “Well he was a .920% goalie for the final 20 games. It doesn’t matter if he was .850% the first 10 games. He was injured. He’s really a .920% goalie and not a .900% goalie. You’re wrong”.

Bratt isn’t a 100 point player, nor a 55 point player. He’s probably somewhere in between. Maybe just a 70 point player.

I don’t want to be Fitz having to figure out what to pay him. It’s so hard to pinpoint what type of player he is. He has shown he can play like an elite forward m but then disappear and be totally useless. It wouldn’t be so bad when he is struggling if he did other things to contribute while struggling. Unfortunately he is limited to what he can do though . I can’t see him crushing guys with body checks , blocking shots , etc. I don’t blame him for that as it’s just not his job and no point killing himself trying to do that.
I just wish he was more consistent.
He will look all-world for 5-10 games , then completely disappear for 10 games .

Cant they play that college goalie we lit up last year? :sarcasm:
I can't even remember his name, but I kind of remember that because I think it might have been Gillies first win here.

And if it wasn't, I think it was definitely one of them.

Or did Daws play that game? I think it was Gillies.

Edit - Jack LaFontaine

I should have remembered he had the same surname as a much more memorable player.

That's his only start to date, but he played a game in relief 9 days before that against Columbus, where he allowed 2 goals on 3 shots lol.

I also have him in my notes for goals stoppable from last year with 4 lol.

And it was Gillies who played in that game, as I remember the joke for a while was Gillies can win games if we score 7 goals.

I’m trying to block out the entire last season so I don’t even want to think about or look up who was in net.

It was quite a game

Bastian with 2 goals, McLeod with a goal, Johnsson with a goal.

Zacha with a goal that made it 7-4.

Almost every skater on the team had at least a point, other than Colton White, Vesey, Tatar, Siegenthaler and Jaros (yes, he actually played lol). Graves and Johnsson with 3 points each to led the team.
