FWIW Amanda listed the goalies as Vanecek/Schmid on December 16, the day before we played the Panthers the first time and Schmid started the next day...the order on her practice notes means zip, zilch and nada (and also shows it isn't alphabetical lol...perhaps it's intentionally inversed to throw people off).

It might be just who is in the net to the left and the net to her right.

So it looks like Bahl is going to be replacing Graves for the time being.... what are the chances they call Nemec up when he gets back from juniors to replace Marino?

Assuming Graves and Marino are out for a bit, Okhotiuk essentially has 4-6 games to show he’s capable of holding down a lineup spot until they’re healthy. Otherwise I’d imagine Nemec gets a shot when he’s back.

Decent first game last night but still has some things to clean up.
With Wotherspoon being called up was he sent down or both are in NJ?

Any news on tonight's lineup?

Will likely find out in 15 minutes or so once the morning skate kicks off.

Not entirely sure why they didn’t call up Clarke. Feels like he’s earned this over Thompson.

Forward group is crowded once Palat returns. I would hope they give Clarke a chance if he continues his play into January. Could also line up nicely to have him make his debut against his brother in LA once he returns from WJC.

Even though Clarke has been playing better I have to think they called up Thompson to give him a run with Wood and McLeod. He’s a better fit there and that line has been missing something since Nate went down.

Both are in NJ and Okhotiuk is likely to play again. They need an extra 7th D around because Marino and Graves are out for a bit.

Also like the Thompson call-up
Clarke should be the next guy to get a chance IMO.

Yeah, absolutely wild. Probably mostly coincidental but i also found it peculiar.

Palat coming back soon (maybe sun?) would really be an injection for the boys...
On some level I get it, because he was a huge component of that fourth line when it was going really well and played both special teams. So automatically the entire lineup gets shifted in unfamiliar ways, but I didn’t see it coming to that extent.

Yep, I get that too, its just is surprising if that really is the case.

I hope that Palat is back Sunday or maybe even Friday. Would be really good to get him and Nico back together again.

Kind of wild how badly they suffered with Bastian out of the lineup.
Our bottom 6 scoring has been minimal without him, as McLeod is clearly not as good as him (nor without him) and Wood might not actually be better than him either.

Now they've had to be the third line, while the fourth line is made up of a bunch of guys that are warm bodies like Boqvist or just not NHL ready at all like Holtz. And then Johnsson who has been super invisible. He was the one player I didn't notice once in the Florida game I went to, other than in warm ups when I was trying to scope out who was dressed and noticed both him and Holtz dressed. Holtz wound up not playing, but took warm ups. Every game Johnsson has played he's probably only averaged 5-6 minutes per game, if even that much.

Boqvist is back to nearing his normal levels of invisibility, Holtz just isn't NHL caliber right now, Johnsson is probably done in North America after this year and I'm glad we're trying somebody new, but not sure how good Tyce will be in the NHL.

So Johnsson was not a 'tweener when he arrived and Boquist looked to have decent NHL potential. Sort of the same way Butcher and Smith fell back after promising starts, I think the NHL as a league is getting faster and more skilled and so even fast skilled guys have to add something more to make it as regulars. Be skilled and good defensively, be fast and physical, etc. Only the true tip top fast and skilled guys can be somewhat one dimensional. It's always been that way to some extent but the level of speed and skill across the league is much higher on average than it used to be and every few years the league gets a bit more skilled and a bit faster which puts borderline guys below the border. Just my anecdotal observation.
