What’s a reasonable hope/expectation over the first couple weeks (say 8 games) of the season?

With the schedule we have I’d love if we could start strong with 5 or even 6 wins out of 8. Minimum 4.

Would also love if Jack could get to 10 or more points quickly.

We lost in a shootout. And Giroux scored both those goals on us in about 22 seconds.

Blackwood’s career record against the Flyers is 8-1-2. The one had to have been the one last year and one of the 2 OT were that one.

Lol you think that’s impressive or something? Missing 12 games is not insignificant, and in the context of other injuries/games missed in previous seasons…it’s not a good sign.

It’s really nice how frustration and skepticism about this team get dismissed/mocked like it’s some wild unjustifiable reaction. A sizeable number of pundits also have the same “prove it to me” stance on this team…and they aren’t nearly as emotionally invested as we are…IE not as prone to having a bias one way or the other. But yeah…I guess if it makes you feel better to pretend like we are suffering from some kind of delusional pessimism syndrome…to each their own I guess.

Edit: also being told I’m incapable of experiencing joy…I’m curious to know what has happened over the last several yearsgk that I should have been/should currently be joyous about but wasn’t? Not rhetorical, I’d really love to know.

I’m sure the number is different now but an old article I read said something like on average players miss about 9 games per year around the league. Injuries are part of the game. There are more durable players than Nico. There are players, some of them
stars, that are way less durable. Everything doesn’t have to be some existential crisis.

I’ve experienced plenty of joy watching Jack, Bratt, Mercer, Nico turn into good players. You just seem intent on finding the most negative outlook possible. Like do you really think it’s that big of a deal if Nico plays 74 games this year or some shit? Calm down.

Meh…their roster is horrendous and historically, Torts coached teams don’t actually do all that much better in his first year with them. It would be quite shocking if they wind up with a respectable record.

That being said, every NHL team can beat another on any given night. Ours laid a whooping on the Colorado Avalanche at home last year. Devils could easily lose to teams that look inferior on paper if they do that thing where they are completely careless with the puck at the blue line, don’t take away time and space from shooters, and the goalies can’t stop more than 89% of the shots.

And his hair….. it was unlike anything I’ve seen.

It seemed to have some body to it, yet at the same time it was so see-through. It was like his hair completely came back, but just really thin.

I can’t figure out what it was. Not sure if plugs or weave. You could see there wasn’t much left in his later playing years. Even in the middle of his career it was significantly going.

I can’t figure out what the hell was up with his hair. It was fake, but it looked too cheap and fake to actually be fake.
