To further put that into perspective Henry and Rask also make more money per then Cory will be when this kicks in. He is also making less per year then rinne price and cam ward.

How come Lou didn't sign him to a one year deal and then wait for it to expire to negotiate seriously? That strategy is GOLD

To add further perspective, Ward was signed when (for the most part) handing out more than 4 years to a goaltender was still rather unheard of.
If I remember correctly, Rinne took a little less money as he thought both Suter & Weber would be signing long term deals the same year.

And Quick was signed pre-lockout and has a decade worth of term on his contract.

All in all, we made out pretty good with the way goalie contracts are being handed out.

"I'm real excited by the addition of Mike (Cammalleri) and Marty Havlat. I think it'll help us up front," Schneider noted. "(And they'll) give younger defensemen a great opportunity because I think we all believe they can be special players in this league.

"We weren't very far off last year. A couple bounces this way or that and things couldn't been a lot different. To add players of this caliber is good to see."

Nobody should complain.... The dollar amount is awesome. Term... He'll be what? 35 at the end if the deal?

Remember the day we traded for him. And remember today.

It will be worth it.

Great day for the franchise.

Also, thanks to the Vancouver Canucks and their complete bungling of the Luongo/Cory situation. Without them we probably don't have Cory.

Lou's comment last week when he said both he AND Cory's camp wanted to get this done, to me was a shot at Parise. I don't think Zach ever intended on staying

Fantastic deal.

Now just looking to see what moves get made to organize our forward group, and obviously hoping for a Greene extension. But that seems imminent.

Great summer so far by Lou.

Greene is one of the leaders on this team. He might even be the next team captain after Salvador leaves. Its possible that we can resign him on July 1, 2015 unless Detroit
throws some cash in his face and he wants to return home.

Left unsaid is the dreaded struggles in the Shootout. :sarcasm:

Let's hope Cammalleri and Havlat help us out in that regard, too.

At least Cory sees that Lou is actually trying to improve the team which also played a role in his re-signing.

We absolutely wouldntve had him if not for that bad situation. Let's hope that the trade to get him works out for both teams. I hope Horvat works out for them.... No ill will to the Canucks team and their fans.
