We are 14 games in and he hasn't stole one yet, and he is touted by our fan base as the best goalie in the division.

He is the least of the problems, but he can be better.

Lundqvist was criticized for far less. Get over the shiny new toy syndrome.

I'm not saying he has been bad, he has been good, but he needs to be BETTER. Valiquette seems to agree too. He needs to be as elite as he was billed for us to win games and he needs to steal a few at this point.

That means winning a game 1-0, or 2-1 to get a team out of a slump. Other goalies do that. Ours can too

Sit AL while Kreider, Mika, and Strome get a pass for losing every puck battle? The Devils are a terrible faceoff team. AL had more faceoff wins than Strome. Ziba could barely put an ounce of effort on the faceoff. Sorry but the guys with the A's on their sweaters have been the biggest culprits of bad turnovers and lackadaisical efforts.

The only players working on this team are 19 and 20 years old, Fox and Lindgren and the career AHLers playing to keep bread on the table. Everyone else with a long term contract is playing like they have cash in the bank.

While this isn't wrong, I still do think that Lafreniere sitting and watching from the press box is most beneficial for him at the moment. His confidence has to be in the toilet right now. He looks absolutely lost.

Bench Zibanejad and Kreider. These two are supposed to be leaders and the kids can’t watch these two be the example for them. This season is a lost cause, just play the kids. Give them experience and let them learn and make their mistakes along the way. Please dump the dead weight on this team; guys like Howden and Hajek have shown that they are not NHL players (TB sure fleeced us with these two).

This team’s top two centers are playing like dog shit. When both Colin Blackwell and Kevin Rooney are outplaying and out scoring your supposed #1 Elite Centerman then you obviously will not be successful. And what the hell is wrong with Chris Kreider? This guy talks a big game during the press conferences but plays with no urgency, the same predictable plays every game and doesn’t hit when he is supposed to be one of the fastest and strongest guys in the league.

Our kids like Kakko and Lafreniere aren’t scoring because they have to play with garbage centermen. Literally put the two of them with Colin Blackwell for a game or two and they will score. If Panarin is healthy next game:

Lafreniere-Blackwell-Kakko
Lemieux-Howden-Gauthier
DiGiuseppe-Rooney-Smith (or call up Barron)

will never happen but totally ok with this.

And Martin coached 13 seasons from 1997 to 2012 without a single losing record. It isn't like he is some scrub; I'm kind of surprised he never had a head coaching gig since then.

The game is tied. You have 5 defenseman, three of them are Bitito, Smith and Hajek.

Suddenly the Devils double their output.

Effort is a factor. Not denying that.

But that’s not a defense that inspires much confidence to stay tied.

Probably one of the least likable teams in a long time and not really because of the personnel but moreso the complete lack of identity or anything resembling an NHL level system.

Trading 6-5 losses for 1-0 losses probably does, technically, count as a system. It's just hard to watch a team with big names and talent play like a team with four fourth lines, especially when the results still suck.

It's a game like this where you couldn't even match their intensity for the third that the coach should've been guided out the door by security and the FO should apologize to all of us. Instead, they will go out next game and lose again and score one goal. All is well according to Davidson and Gorton. Everything is on schedule. If I am TD77, I'd rather skate with the u18 team in Jersey than play with this crap.

Honestly, I don’t think most of this is Quinn’s fault and I think a lot of the criticism of him is baseless piling on, but something has got to change and the coach is usually that thing in situations like this.

I didn’t care about wins and losses much at all at first when they were outplaying the opposition handily and just not getting luck. But they’re not doing that anymore really and they’re also not winning winnable games. The injuries suck and are a big problem. Mika having a particularly lingering covid case sucks and is a big problem. But, damn, at some point you need to win some damn games or at least outplay the other team.

We currently have the 3rd worst record in the league and the toughest remaining strength of schedule. Rangers need to start at least thinking about a replacement for Quinn. Focus for the remainder of the season should be to develop our youth as much as possible.
