tough night last night for the Devils. Washington was a surprise beating St Louis. Detroit TB Columbus and Philly were a given. Tonight Columbus vs Dallas in Dallas with Dallas needing points should be Dallas winning. Detroit vs Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh shouild win.

There's definitely a chance Detroit loses in Pittsburgh (though it has to be regulation for it to matter to us), especially with them getting Letang back. I don't think the Jackets will lose though, they're young and hungry to finally make a splash in April.

I'm not optimistic but I think the devils demonstrated just how hard it is to pick up points against NHL teams.

The Devils just don't have the offensive talent to pick up points against NHL teams. Teams like Detroit and Philly have no issue beating Buffalo. The Devils have such poor skill up front, that even if they carry the play they can't score enough to create separation from these teams. That's been the story of the last 2 seasons. They can have 45 minutes of offensive zone time, but they lack the killer instinct and the goal scoring ability. They let these **** teams hang around long enough that it gets to a shootout.

Honestly think its more likely the other way around. I think the Wings are poised to get in and start making a serious run.

Don't think the Jackets are that good, and the Stars are much hungrier then Pitt is so the Jackets are in for a tough game. Not to mention they were getting hemmed in and pounded last night.

Problem is we need to field an actual roster for the final three games. Other than Larsson there really isn't anyone disposable right now with all the injuries. If Elias comes back I suppose you can send down Sislo, though I'd hold out all the walking wounded at this point too. At least the last two games are at home so if someone else gets hurt calling anyone back up shouldn't be an issue.

I'd also send down all eligible players that can play in the AHL playoffs tomorrow.

Or lets see what Larsson can do playing 23 or 24 minutes a game for the final 3 games. Give Gelinas more ice time, same with Merrill. Scratch A-train and Harrold, not b/c of performance but to evaluate some of the young Dmen.

Let Marty have the Boston game. Most likely his last game as a Devil ever.

I'd almost rather send him down, get him the extra games and hopefully a playoff run rather than get him three meaningless NHL games against teams that don't care any more than we will.

Larsson isn't even going to play up here. he was on the 4th pairing today.

Well that was when we were still trotting out the 'playoff push' lineup. It'll look a little different tomorrow unless Pittsburgh wins in regulation.

I kind of hope we can break our shootout losing streak one of these final three games, just so we can get that monkey off our back before next season.

It wouldn't shock me at all if they broke it the last three games once the pressure's off

That'd be nice. Something to help next season feel like a fresh start instead of still having the shootout futility hanging over their heads.

You were right, I thought the Stars would show up, but damn.
