That is absolutely not peanuts. That's 3 firsts, Zetterlund and Okhotiuk.
Zetterlund is a bottom - middle six grinder, Okhotiuk is a depth defenseman. Mukhammadullin is in Russia and no one knows what he's going to be, and we're talking about potentially two late first round picks.

You still have Hughes, Nemec, Holtz, Walsh, Clarke, Casey, Grits...

like... it could have been so much worse.

Want to see the condition on the 2024 1st round pick, but overall this seems like mostly a quantity trade. Sucks to lose Zetterlund but it is what it is. Okhotiuk is a depth defenseman. Muk has solid potential, but he'd be stuck behind Hughes & Siegs realistically. Draft picks are whatever, we're at that point to use them for stuff like this.

Obviously they need to extend Meier but I'm confident it'll happen.

Absolute steal. Cannot fathom how people would be upset about this. Assuming we get an extension done of course.

Quantity != Quality

We give up a 3rd line winger, one solid defenseman prospect who MIGHT play in the NHL one day, one meh defenseman prospect that probably is a career AHLer, Johnsson who is a known whatever, a pick in the late 20s, and a conditional pick that might be in the late 20s or even in the 50s depending on the conditions. We get back a known stud winger who is a great fit given our current roster construction. Absolutely love it.

Really depends on the conditional first, but even then it's not bad at all. You can sell off Muk and Ok (who I both really like), when you have Hughes, Nemec, Bahl, Casey, ect as D prospects. We have fewer stud offensive players, so keeping Holtz is nice.

2 1sts and a first round pick plus Z isn't what I would call peanuts. That's a lot.

Muk has questions marks, and will he even come over? Nikita moved down the prospect list pretty fast. Especially with Casey Nemec and Luke coming soon.

Dumping AJ also helps.

The trade is two firsts and zetterlund for Meier (who will most likely extend )and cap relief.

Ah , we gave up alot to get him. Gotts see what the conditions are. Atleast we still have Luke , Nemec and Casey to offset the loss or Shakir and Ohotyuk. Losing Zetterlund hurts. Oh well we added a big piece but it didn't come cheap.

Seems we kept Holtz. I mean, it's a quantity trade. We got the best player and SJ got some very nice pieces to start their rebuild.
Ya, usually the team getting the quality for the quantity ends up happier but SJ has a bunch of shots to find gold here.
