Confirmed with Link: Devils acquire Meier (50% retained) and four others from the Sharks for 2023 1st, conditional 2024 1st, Mukhamadullin, Okhotiuk, Zetterlund & Johnsson

That can't happen anymore, it'll be how far we go in the playoffs or something.
 
That's a haul for San Jose, but honestly I won't really miss any of those pieces. Definitely interested to see the conditions on the 2024 pick though.

Mukhamadullin & Okhotyuk are the very definition of expendable when you have L. Hughes & Nemec in your defensive pipeline.

Zetterlund is a bottom six guy who you give up in a heartbeat for a player like Meier. Johnsson had negative value.

The only really 'painful' assets there are the 1st round picks, one of which is conditional. We're way past the 'draft & develop first round picks' phase of our rebuild now and those picks are both going to be pretty late barring a disaster.

There must be some crossed wires with the full trade package. People are piecing together bits here and there, and the resulting final tally seems high.

My guess is at least one of the rumored pieces has not been reported correctly.

Edit: Nope, looks like it's confirmed as being that.

People think us moving a late first, bottom six forward (who I like), our third/fourth best D prospect, a DMan who has been bad in the NHL and a conditional first we don’t know the conditions of is a bad deal?
 
Muhk being the centerpiece of the deal would be really nice but the firsts are also nice, unless the Devils go deep in the playoffs each of the next 2 years, in which case they lose a lot of value.

I hope the Devils for something like a 3rd in 2024 back just to keep pick volume in place.

That is not a bad deal at all. Muk was pretty blocked. OK and Bahl were battling it out and Bahl won. Zetterlund was very solid but we held on to Holtz. This year’s 1st I do not care about. I need to see the conditions to the other 1st, that’s a bit annoying.

All in all, we got an elite player to battle against the Rangers in the playoffs. I won’t give half a **** about any of this if he helps us knock them off.
