We clearly win this deal imo. Stunning they didn’t take Holtz as part of the package. Honestly the only piece that kinda hurts is the 2024 1st and it’s conditional. Everything else was expected

Absolute steal. Cannot fathom how people would be upset about this. Assuming we get an extension done of course.

Quantity != Quality

We give up a 3rd line winger, one solid defenseman prospect who MIGHT play in the NHL one day, one meh defenseman prospect that probably is a career AHLer, Johnsson who is a known whatever, a pick in the late 20s, and a conditional pick that might be in the late 20s or even in the 50s depending on the conditions. We get back a known stud winger who is a great fit given our current roster construction. Absolutely love it.

Yeah. I was surprised to see the quantity of pieces but this is a good deal for us. f***ing excited. Let’s go win the division!

They didn't get any premium assets back, so I can understand it.

They were never getting a premium asset like Luke / Nemec back. Holtz was always likely the best prospect that could be available and they spent the last month shitting on him, so there has to be some degree of pleasure there. This is like the Taylor Hall deal on steroids (Mookie better than Bahl).

Muk has questions marks, and will he even come over? Nikita moved down the prospect list pretty fast. Especially with Casey Nemec and Luke coming soon.

Dumping AJ also helps.

The trade is two firsts and zetterlund for Meier (who will most likely extend )and cap relief.

I don't hate it, but maybe a bit weary of the second 1st round pick. Especially because, as much as we want to make the assumption, Meier may not sign here. It's theoretically possible we lose Meier and Bratt. Until one or both are locked up I'm going to be slightly nervous.

All that said, I'm not complaining. Almost everytime you look back on these deals, the team that gets the best player ends up in a better position. And we got the best player.

I hope Holtz tears it up in this league given all the shit he's gotten from Sharks fans.

Seems like SJ might have been prioritizing defensemen.
