Because he sucks. He’s awful defensively and his production is incredibly boosted by playing an outsized role on a bad team with PP time. Domi’s 5v5 production isn’t much better than Yegor’s and Yegor is substantially better defensively. Domi should not even be on our radar.

Sure as shit hope not.
domi 50% retainied to play bottom 6 though? and you say his stats area boosted by PP - do we not have issues with our PP?

He’s on an awful team. Everyone’s 5v5 production is terrible….for better or for worse, he’s still the most productive 5v5 producer on Chicago this season. Better than Kane.

If the price is right, there’s not reason to be opposed other than his name.

With that said, a pure rental does not seem like Fitz’s style…and I doubt Chicago let’s him go for cheap. They’re probably asking for the moon just because of how thin the market is now.

He's going to be on the 3rd line here. I wouldn't expect too much production there and his production likely isn't going to outweigh his horrific defense.

I'd much rather Yegor on the 3rd lline. Yegor is adequate defensively and I wouldn't expect a big production gap. Domi would be PP2 here. PP2 is largely irrelevant. I don't know what the cost difference between Domi and Kerfoot would be or who would be viewed as more valuable but I know which player is substantially better and that I'd like more. Probably would be really tough to make a Kerfoot deal work money wise though. I'd target a guy like Bjugstad before Domi. I wouldn't touch Domi.

I don't think PP2 is irrelevant. It gets way too much time in NJ. I think you meant to say PP2 stinks.

It stinks and also is pretty irrelevant. The core 4 PP1 guys see an average of 3 minutes a game. Damon has basically the one PP2 staple so I think he's the best gauge of how much time they get. He's at 1:23 a game. PP1 is basically getting 2-1 time. I wouldn't expect Domi to completely transform a PP2 unit and make them relevant. Even then he'd basically be a PP specialist here and a PP2 specialist at that.

Good for Zetterlund and Johnsson making it onto the Sharks' roster tonight.

Any indication if Okhotiuk might play? Or is he expected to be a fringe depth guy like he was here?

Zetterlund might be stepping onto that team as the 3rd best forward lol. It's Hertl, Couture, and then I'd say a group of Zetterlund, Labanc, and Barabanov

However irrelevant it is it's not irrelevant enough.

Agreed. PP1's should get ran into the ground. It's not like you have to use that much energy and the gap between PP1 and PP2 is massive (and should be since you should stack PP1 as much as possible). IIRC there was an article maybe last season where like the best PPs saw around 3-1 time compared to PP2. Give a top PP unit of Jack-Bratt-Nico-Meier-Dougie 90 seconds a PP.

I’ve noticed that Jack and Bratt have had a tendency to stick around on PP2 in recent games when there wasn’t a stoppage. As a result it seemed like PP2 was at least getting a few dangerous looks.

I thought with Okhotiuk, they said he was a game out, was delayed flying over to SJ a day apparently (i read on twitter or their forums yesterday)
