Adding Power, Hughes, or Clarke does a lot to this build IMO.

Smith looks like a stud. You got some D prospects that show promise to be solid NHLers to round the bottom out.

Add in one of those kids and you got a blueline that can win.

Most likely need another vet to stabilize it all, but you can make that move when it's time to start doing win now moves.

Florida has Knight (made his NHL debut and won tonight) and obviously Bob

I highly doubt that they can keep them all

He would be my preferred option by a decent margin then. I’m sure every team that’s in the goalie market will be targeting him though.

The lottery odds for finishing 2nd worst are much much greater then finishing 3rd worst because of Seattle. Here’s to hoping we get some help from Anaheim tonight

How high of an AAV and what kind of term would you guys go for on Dougie Hamilton? He turns 28 in June. Cam Robinson of EP thinks he's going to pull more than Carlson did which was 8x8. For me, that makes no sense considering 1) the flat cap and 2) Carlson is better than Dougie.

if Hamilton said he would sign with the Devils, I would theoretically give him whatever he wanted tbh

we have literally no crippling contracts (minus Johnsson but I still don't think he is as bad as he has been this year, and Seattle might take him)

Only Carolina can offer the 8th year, right? I'd go 7 x $9, it's probably too much, but he's exactly what the team needs.

I would love to add Hamilton but I wouldn’t say he is exactly what the team needs. He is an offensive defenseman and a better one then severson. I think the team needs a good shutdown rh defensemen especially down the road if we draft an offensive LD in Luke Hughes or for right now to pair with ty smith. I would not mind bringing back Adam Larsson I believe he is a ufa

I remember in that draft I really, REALLY wanted to trade down to pick Hamilton instead of Larsson and pick up a nice sweetener in the process.

I wanted landeskog so bad but when Larsson fell to us it seemed like a no brainer to draft him. I feel like we killed his development though. He never saw any power play time and became a defense only defensemen. I’ll never forget the playoff goal he scored against philly as a rookie

So we think Dougie is worth Carlson/Pie money?
He's one of the best puck movers in the whole league. Our biggest defensive issue is actually getting the puck out of the zone, better out let passing helps that. How many times a game do we create a forecheck for the other team because we have bad breakout passing.
