Devils will go back to Schmid. Pulling him after three goals would have been a crisis of confidence. Pulling him after five was about preserving him for the next game.

Yeah It sounds like he didn’t want it. He still is the unofficial Captain in many respects

He's always passed the puck well, imo. The Zib goal was a little fortuitous. It was a slow developing play, and Kreider saw Zib at the last moment almost. Zib drifted into the slot and NJ wasn't even minding the store because honestly no one really goes there.

That looked a defensive lapse by NJ to my eye. They had defenders in the slot, but they were all looking toward to goal, which allowed Mika to drift into the perfect spot.

Springtime is a special time of year. Ozone levels and pollution in the air start to climb. Violent crimes begin to increase along with severe weather and Game 7's. What more do I need to put me over the edge?

This entire series is Igor and Krieder with some Tarasenko thrown in.

That's fine with me. now lets get a few more guys on board for monday... and flush them down the hudson!

I don't know if Chytil is hurt or if he is just nervous with 0 confidence right now. But he's been a player where things go right or very bad. There's no middle. I think it's all confidence for him.

To be fair Zib, Tro, and Chytil are all matched up against Hughes and Heschier at center. That is as good of a 1-2 punch at center as it gets in the league. I would expect our centers to not have an easy series.

Big time. I was watching that play develop and was shocked to see whatever Devil that was chase Kreider behind the net.

Defensive lapse that I’m super happy Chris was able to make them pay for.

The Kreider-Zibanejad-Tank line is clearly the line that can't be changed. Still would like to see adjustments in the other lines. I'd like to see Vesey with Trocheck and Panarin again. They looked great together in that 2-3 game stint.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Tank
Panarin-Trocheck-Vesey
Laf-Chytil-Kane
Motte-Goodrow-Kakko

Kakko doesn't deserve to be on the 4th line, but I think we have to put him there for now. Plus I can see that 4th line contributing offensively and I think Kakko can play off Motte's and Goodrow's forecheck.

I still can't believe Laf and Trouba are bottom barrel holdouts with no points going into game 7. The fact that Goodrow and Vesey have a point, and goddamn, even Schneider has a goal, is making Laf look like a moron. Every clip I see of him I keep seeing that, "I'm just happy to be here" smile on his face and it's just irritating to me.

his brain sometimes disengages with his hands. His mind moves way to fast/panics in a sense and can't control the puck. I don't know if he's worried about the pressure coming from the devs speed and he panics? but he does go through this often... he's handling the puck like a grenade right now... a goal hopefully calms him down.

Zibs has had similar issues. Just can't control the puck. It was happening even last game and on the PP before he finally scored.

They are not handling the puck well. Especially Chytil right now. Trocheck, I don't even realize him. @Kovalev27 mentioned it I think... It's REALLY taken me off guard. Something has to be wrong with him

How do we go from game 1 & 2 domination, everyone skating and putting in effort, to games 3, 4, & 5 oh "they might be injured" cope? The only one looking like he's been injured the entire time, even since the season, is Kane.

When we first traded for Tank, I loved how that line had some 5 on 5 play. But it seemed we had to find a way to include Panarin, and then when Kane came it felt more of the same. How do we get Panarin with one of them and make it work.

HYPOTHETICAL: NYR can sign/extend him, get him surgery and LTIR him well into 2024.
I think it may be worth the risk depending on what he’d sign for.
