Post-Game Talk: Devil VI

Noticed after Mika scored he skated by the bench and high fived everybody with his left hand. Then they showed him on the bench and he was holding the water bottle with his left. That blocked shot he took off the right hand must have been bad.
Get him on the Kane and Lindgren drugs, stat

Hope it's ok though, he needs his right hand to clap bombs.

We did a much better job getting pucks behind the Debs D. Not nearly as many turnovers at the blue lines.
As skilled as Hughes is, he is a floater. We just need to account for where he is on the ice and take away his space quickly. Knock him on his ass every chance you get.
Also, I loved Trouba knocking Nico on his ass. Sets a tone. Worth two minutes.

If you think points tell the entire story that's totally your prerogative. I'm seeing a lot of poor decisions from him with too much hesitation with the puck.

With that said, I like Fox a lot as a player, he's not in the same stratosphere as Brian Leetch.

Leetch was benched in '93-94 because his coach didn't think he was doing enough in the series.

Leetch was fantastic, but let's not look back and forget that he too had some dubious moments.

The Rangers should have swept this team. They have no goaltender. Meier and Nico haven't scored a goal in this series. Hughes hasn’t scored a goal since game 4 on the breakaway. He was more effective earlier in the series. Mercer didn’t do anything until game 5. The rest of their forwards aren’t very good. Palat left his game in TB. Tatar was always overrated. Has anyone see Bratt? How much money did Bratt want long-term from the Devils? He should have taken whatever they offered him last summer. The Rangers are having trouble with Graves, Severson and Bahl. Hamilton is the only quality D on that team. The Rangers played Pittsburgh last season. Marino isn't that good. That Jonas guy had a good year but Ruff scratched him in game 2 which was odd.

The Rangers are a flawed team. It shows. Hopefully, they can win game 7 and avoid the epic failure of losing this series to that team. Ruff should win the Jack Adams for that team having 100 plus points this season.
I thought the Siegenthaler scratch was an odd one from the get go. He is clearly their second best defenseman to me. Solid player.

The broadcast is fawning over Marino, but that kid does not like to get hit and the Rangers know it.

Someone mentioned in the GDT that whoever wins tomorrow night will roll over the Canes. Are we sure about that? Perhaps neither of these teams are that good?

I dislike modern hockey. Yeah, Hughes is a generational talent... In 2023... In 1992 he gets flattened and spends the rest of his career at 60 points because the refs and modern rules aren't protecting him from getting steam rolled.

Don't get me wrong... I'm okay with no physicality. That's why I watch baseball and football.
what this sport needs is more brain injury

Can’t fkkn believe there are still “fans” who think the literal GOAL SONG is sung by going “ohhhh oh.”

In fairness, Rodgers and Lazard are both new to the market/team (I'm a Packers fan, i'd know lmao). I'm just glad we've got even new guys to the market going "I want to go watch the Rangers".

Mika was criticized and answered the call.

Can we please keep Tarasenko?

I don’t want to make an excuse, but I believe in Game 1 or 2 Chytil got slashed in the hand. I wonder if he got injured on the play, because he can’t handle the puck at all right now. Kakko sent a beautiful pass in his direction and he just fumbled it. He’s had a few plays like that in this series since that slash.
Yeah Fil doesn't look right

No way Ruff goes back to Vanecek. It's 100% Schmid. Mika was naked open in the slot. Kreider was off his leg. Tarasenko has done that to a lot of other goalies. If Ruff trots Vanecek out there Monday, he's doing us a favor.

Whatever they did to Hughes tonight, they need to do again. He was not noticable at all. Miller-Trouba are trying to rough up Hischier too. I wonder what Miller was saying to him after the Trouba roughing up.
Stay on your feet bitch boy.

I think we should have swept them, not because the Devils are flawed, just inexperienced. Game 3 we should have easaly taken and i think would have been a sweep. Not winning that dominant game gave them hope and yes, showed the Rangers are flawed, next game basically is a lottery for both teams, who scores first etc

It sucks imo but I do think the Devils with Hughes are a heck of a team, but we should have swept.

Leetch was benched because Keenan was a total psychopath. Keenan acted like the Rangers were playing the 8th seed in the conference finals when the Devils began to push back in game 4. His mind games backfired big time when the hangover lasted well into Game 6. Luckily Mike Richter was there to keep us alive until we could wake up again.

Every player has bad moments, that wasn't my point of my post. I think Fox is a terrific player, it's not a crime that he isn't Brian Leetch. We don't need to drag this out, as I said, I don't want this to be a sideshow from the main story which is the team came away with a giant win. Let's hope they follow up with another solid effort in Game 7.

We can agree to disagree. Fox is 25, has a Norris, and has made history in the playoffs already on a few different fronts. Let's give him another 8-10 years before we declare who ended up being the better player. But, yes, let's move on. We'll have an entire off season to debate this that hopefully begins in June.

New Jersey is terrible in their own zone. They crumble under any pressure.

The recipe is there. Get the puck deep. GET. THE. PUCK. DEEP.

and shoot the puck. hockey gods reward people who shoot in the playoffs.
just wish they had done this in games 3-5

First game akira actually had to play goalie. First game he was remotely tested.

The game is simple vs him, get to the slot, and make him move laterally. Hes too big to beat when hes stationary and squared up facing shots from the outside
isn't this the blueprint against most big goalies?
