igor was massive when he needed to be. really had a presence to him all night, loved seeing the way he carried himself. team definitely came out tentative and clearly a bit rattled by what's happened, igor held the fort and allowed them time to find a goal.
once they got that goal late first the game shifted - devils still had some great chances but the rangers were a lot more engaged and were able to generate their own pushes / great chances that they buried. great seeing mika get on the board, tank has been awesome....just love his hustle and that shot was something very few have in the bag. even his celebrations are great to watch, not to say i care what guys do/don't do, but it's noticeable the way he immediately finds teammates and has a genuine joy about him. was almost palpable the way their confidence came back all over the ice once they got up a goal and then 2. in the 3rd were very structured and limited the devils chances / kept them outside and took advantage of a few of the opportunities that come when teams are pressing.
the one area i thought left a lot of room for improvement was puck movement. they were generally responsible with it which is the biggest thing, but lots of missed passes all over the ice. the slow start was also an issue, but i think that came more from a team in a bit of shellshock than a team that wasn't ready for puck drop.
they did what they had to do.
