Guys, what are they supposed to say to the media???
I think Kreider is spot on and what else could he say in the media and he has contributed in this playoffs. But It is just a sad to watch our talents are not developing as fast as we wish, and they dont lose talent they had in their draft year but we need to upgrade our coaching staff before next season.

Everyone is kind of in that boat and the league is caving in on itself so it's hard to say what will happen.

I don't think it'll be impossible with some small adjustments and a bit of luck.

You mentioned the Pens. They had Jake Guentzel turn into Brett Hull and Connor Sheary turn into Jari Kurri literally out of nowhere.
Problem is that we thought the Rangers would have those players break out out of nowhere but very likely won't.

You nailed it though. The only way the Rangers will be able to size up to the Devils, Leafs, and Bruins next year is if Lafreniere magically turns into Mark Messier circa 1988 and Kakko into Marian Hossa circa 2009.

Call it bad luck, bad drafting, bad player development. That's where we're at. The dreaded middle, once again.

Couldn't even get chippy when it was clear there would be no comeback. Every other team in the playoffs wouldn't have made it easy for the Devils to finish this game. Where the f*** has our captain been? Only thing he's done is f*** up the PP2.

So many players stuck in neutral or gone missing. Miller. Laffy. Vesey. Goodrow. Trouba. Chytil. Lindy. Tro. Mika has no traction, Kreider no impact ES.

Panarin's been worse. Tank is trying, Kane is cooked.

We really should be able to get something out of Kakko. He drives play like a diesel engine.

Reminds me of Kreider in that respect. I know everyone is taking their emotions on Kreider at the moment, but I would sign the f*** up for Kakko becoming a 5v5 machine who scores 35 per 82.

We need more of that. Kane has 3 Cups to show for his assault. The rest of these players wouldn't even be out in public intoxicated. Just a glass of red wine before bed for the antioxidants.
Yeah, although I don't condone breaking the law, there is something to be said for ego and swagger that core players from championship teams possess. This team lacks all of it.

Is there a way to break down what he actually does (like how often he directly contributes to high danger chances etc)?
he's an expert at getting and holding the puck, but eye-test wise it seems he either ends up turning it over after trying to go around someone one too many times, or he ends up passing it off to someone who's in a bad spot and takes a crappy shot. You couple that with how slow he is up and down the ice and I just end up wondering whether he's actually a net positive.

Maybe the time has come for Drury to try and build a line around what KK can (or is expected to) bring and try to Moneyball a line that works for him, rather than shoving him on a line that ultimately doesn't produce much
