Post-Game Talk: Devil IV

Can't even imagine what this team would be like if even one of Laf and Kakko played like Hughes, or close to Hughes.

Literally a game breaking talent we will need to deal with for decades.

It is what it is. Its obvious they arent generational and were never really billed as such, but man. If they were even Stutzle level good, some of those chances would be buried and we are sitting here after a sweep waiting for the Canes

I try to be nice but people get what they ask for.

To say this team doesn't care after the run they had last year is insulting to everyone's intelligence.

I'm not obligated to take everything seriously.
you're obligated to read people's posts and respond to them honestly.

The irony is, you're doing the same thing with your speed narrative.

Cool then I’m ridiculous, don’t really care, sorry I criticized your dude

The enigma that is Chris Kreider. I view it as the optics of his playstyle. He has scattered intervals of wowing us by flattening someone along the wall or making some crazy pass for a goal, but mostly he veers toward a finesse style. He can score off the rush. He can tip in goals. He's not going to come off the wall on his backhand with someone draped over him and roof one. He's not going to stickhandle through a couple of guys going inside outside.

We'd probably be a bit hungover and mediocre because we win the Cup last year.

"I'm gonna blame Panarin because he's the superstar."

Ok, fair, but I view Lafreniere as a superstar that can't score 40 points. That's what every single scout told me he was.

I like Kreider because my expectations for him were, quite frankly, more realistic than most. He was a late 1st who produced in college, honestly, not far off the rate he produces at in the NHL.

I expected Lafreniere to be as good as Hughes/Stutzle/etc and please tell me where I'm wrong.

My main issue is the lack of killer instinct. No matter who the coaches or players are, it's like a series has to always go a minimum of at least 6 games for the Rangers to want to win it.

Seriously, WHEN was the last time the Rangers won a series in under say 6 games?

2007 sweep against the Thrashers is the only one I can remember.

Did anyone notice last night that the GDT was impossible to post anything? It was almost as slow as TDL when the Rangers’ make a surprise blockbuster. It was the most active ive seen it in some time.

Side note: Does this happen anyone else?
Family, friends who are Rangers fans start texting you heaps of negative, silly takes when they barely make a peep in the regular season. Yes, I know, I watched the game. It’s quite annoying.

Panarin only has the best points per game as a Ranger of anyone in franchise history & led our team in scoring every season since he signed here, he’s been a terrible signing!

It's just my opinion that we struggle because we lack speed.

I'd be interested to hear arguments to the contrary, but so far the main one I heard has been "but we won the first two games."

Ok?

There was a lot of traffic due to the Toronto/Tampa series, that game started to get spicy, and hence more posting. So the server had a lot going on last night. I also saw some lagging as well. which I questioned if there was a problem with the live thread function.

The Leafs could trade a 7th rounder for a different 7th rounder and the site would crash.

If we win game 5, all of the "willingness" people will be dead silent because you know that if anything doesn't hold water, it's the idea that a team alternates games in which they care.

You'll be ready to pounce if they lose game 6 of course.
That’s just a disingenuous way to frame the point. It’s not that they don’t care. I think to a man; they care. It’s that they didn’t play with enough desire. If you’ve played the game, you understand (I don’t know if you played). It’s just an extra gear, a will, a desire to get to loose pucks and make plays. They didn’t have it last game. Throughout the lineup, they didn’t have it. The devils did.

Not that my opinion is valid so much, but I think a big problem is that they don't really know how to go up the ice when guys are dropped back. Sometimes we see the masterful cycles and passing, but that isn't going to always happen... and you can expect it less in the playoffs. A team like NJ you really need to get in there and batter them if it's what it takes, finesse player or not. They're youthful and quick, they make decisions with the puck faster than us. If "we" make better, faster decisions I think a lot of this is overcame.

There were a ton of “messages have been posted...” when I was trying to post. Definitely the most I’ve ever seen.

I could buy that there's an extra gear. Something subconscious.

I don't know how much you control that. I think the momentum of the series ebbs and flows. A change a scenery should help us reset, as should the two days off.

If we were just better at certain things, we win game 3 and the momentum doesn't shift.
