I suspect that the Garden ice is a big reason for the poor quality of play from the Rangers in the past two games. How many guys did we see slip yesterday while trying to make a play? It's what happens when they have to constantly change the playing surface from ice to hard court to accommodate the Knicks. Last year the ice surface looked a lot better WITHOUT the knicks in the playoffs.

Two teams played on that ice.

If the Rangers can't win on their own bad ice, thats a whole other problem.

@SnowblindNYR

We had a much worse collapse against Pit last year. It didn't look like we belonged on the same ice as them in games 3 and 4. This is different.

half the series in the league are 2-2. The other half are 3-1 and half of those will probably be 3-2. Thats just the reality of the league these days.

Toronto got blown the f*** out in game 1 and then won 3 straight. Teams come back all the time. Series momentum isn't what its made out to be.

Which would explain why the Devils didn't look great either. I agree though...the ice is not an excuse for the way they played. The main problem that I see over the past two years is coaching. Talented teams that constantly fall short do so because of bad coaching...always.

What’s really troubling to me is how content this team always seems to be, they’re content to be who and what they are and if they lose being that oh well so be it

Shit like bitching about faceoff drops, how about putting in extra work on faceoffs in the off-season instead of playing DJ? By the way your music sucks

Blaming the ice? Are you kidding me? Did the Devils not play on that exact same ice and do the Rangers not play on that same ice with multiple back to backs as well in the regular season?

Ice can be a factor, sure but that's not an excuse for effort.

What was with the low effort shots all night? Noone crashing the net. Noone looking for the countless rebounds. They basically gave up at the NZ and Blue lines.

Ice is one thing. But this was a total lack of effort or game plan or whatever. Its not even due to the Devils standing up. Devils playing better doesn't stop players from crashing the net.

And why the hell is Mika not back on the dots on The PP. It's infuriating.

The problems you cited can summed up in one word...coaching.

Miller and Schneider are awful. Schneider looked like a scared puppy every time he had the puck. Miller is softer than Panarin. He avoided physical contact at every opportunity. Has Laf done anything this series? Where is Mika and Panarin? Dreadful. Kreider didnt crash the net once the entire game. That was one of the worst performances I've seen in (in a playoff game) in a long time.

People can give all the credit in the world to the Devils, but the Rangers played like it was a meaningless game and it showed.

As far as me picking on the bottom 4 defense, I don't think Miller is not a useful player. Hell, you could say the same about Mikkola.

The problem is that we're asking both guys to be the puck mover on their pair.

Trouba and Trouba's son Braden have to go.

People talk about Panarin because of the cap hit. We could have that discussion and I'm not saying it's either-or, but let's apply that same logic to Trouba.

You could have 11.6m and spend that entire hit trying (probably failing) to replace Panarin's objectively large contribution to a team that already has questionable scoring, or you could have 8m, get some Schmuck who moves the puck an NHL level to form an effective pair with Miller, and bank the savings.

11.6 but the player is impossible to replace or 8 and a trained seal could do what he does. Do the math.

This team is OK with losing and that's NOT OK.

There is no one on this team willing to play an angry game.

Where is the battle level?

More skill than will and we need a lot more will right now.

Trocheck's goal from the slot should be the light bulb over their heads, but nope. It'll be more perimeter bullshit from a team that is hell bent on not engaging physically.

Foolish me, I was hoping for a similar level of physicality in this series that we have seen in the TOR-TB series, but where Tampa knows that you have to often times cross the line and be a little dirty, the Rangers still want to play a brand of hockey that doesn't have much success in the post season aside from those series playing back ups and third string goalies.

So frustrated with this group right now.

I thought the team played good enough to win in Game 3...then Gallant makes them change their game plan in game 4 and they start shooting from the perimeter all night instead of getting in front of the net and being physical. The Rangers have played well in 3 of 4 games this series. They let Akira whatever his name is get in their head yesterday and he's just a 22-year-old kid. They need to go back to whatever worked for games 1-2.

I was at the game, What a disaster. I get why the crowd is quiet. BECAUSE THE RANGERS DONT GIVE US ANYTHING TO CHEER ABOUT. They are awful. We deserve to lose this series. I will never waste my money again on this team in the playoffs. Robbed me of $450. absolutely disgusted with the effort and rangers team

Feel same way. Gave the fan’s absolutely nothing. The garden was desperate for any action any semblance of a play and the place was on its feet. But it was just a horrific performance. Obscene money to watch this team put in a preseason display.

Which is nuts as the game 3 stonewall had the perfect excuse of not researching Schmid enough. By game 4 they should gave figured his game and pounce on rebounds.

If the Rangers just got swept, maybe the "they don't care about losing" argument would at least pass the smell test.

I don't understand how one brings themself to believe they did it for two games, it worked, and *then* they went "nah, winning 5-1 was too hard."

Their offense is being shut down. Offense and perceived effort correlate 1:1. The offense is being shut down for a variety of the same reasons that have existed for multiple years.

Well, they haven't been here that long.

Again, I have some concerns about what seems to happen to forwards of a variety of ages once they arrive here.
Country Club with no accountability, it’s totally a Rangers thing don’t get me wrong but seems to be a NY sports thing as well, who actually accomplished anything, Messier and that’s basically it, Rodgers will be the next to fail

so what's the solution? We refuse to get more PMD, our forwards all have issues 5 on 5. kids are busts. how do we get out of this?

He pulled a Lindy.

The Devils sucked in game 1 so Ruff corrected in the wrong direction and sent them out to do nothing but throw meaningless hits in game 2 and abandon any semblance of good positioning.

We lost game 3 because hey results are random sometimes and we stopped doing anything we were doing well to correct a problem that wasn't there.

All they really needed after game 3 was to review tape on Schmid and adjust the PP and move Mika back on the dots.

Not change the whole system.
