This has been an issue Gallant's entire tenure, but, it's been especially bad these last 2 games (egregious in game 4) - getting the f***ing puck out of the zone. I don't know if they're trying too hard to avoid turnovers but you need puck support exiting the zone. The D take too long to survey the outlets and move the puck, it really hurts the transition game and is one of the reasons we:

Could not establish a forecheck, and bang bodies in behind their net. No wonder why MSG's been dead. The crowd responds to long shifts of o-zone time where you're outworking the opposition. The 3rd line (f*** calling them the kid line when all of them can buy a beer) was the only line doing that at all, but I still wasn't impressed because they just cannot finish chances. Otherwise the best we can muster are low% perimeter shots. Yes Trochek scored off that rebound but that's also a heady play by Kane to recognize the 2 players in front. Kane shot the puck right at Kreider instead of floating one over to Schmid.

Hopefully they find that magic they had in games 1 & 2, but imo it's doubtful. Devils have fully adjusted their game and are playing quick to pucks, not focusing as much on the physicality. Have to readjust and win game 5 otherwise it's done. The Devils can fully lock it down and pounce on opportunities just like Tampa did to us last year. They have game-breaking speed and we do not. The PP woes are directly due to what the Devils are doing right. What are we 0-8 on PPs the last 2 games? Need to find a way to get the PP working, is it really that easy to figure out after 2 outings? Devils are getting better with each game, in every area. And we're getting worse.

I'm 100% not blaming this game on Shesterkin but it would really be nice if he wasn't a sieve on that GWG. It was the only goal that he allowed all series that I thought was soft and he's only allowed 6 goals in 12.5 periods. I get it. But he also hasn't faced much this series. As pissed as we are about the Rangers, the Devils have done jack shit offensively all series. I actually think their best game in terms of offense was game 1. Would have been nice to have a clean game today. It wasn't the worst goal ever, it was a royal road or whatever, but it went through him. We were killing Sorokin for a similar goal allowed to Fast.
If the offense does what it was supposed to do,that goal he allowed doesn't even matter. He basically was asked to be perfect these past 2 games..no support whatsoever

Not going to disagree here.

Every time I say “Igor got beat glove high” some toad says that’s where all the goalies get beat.

But I’m with you. BS. A save that needed to be, um, saved.

He did the same shit against Tampa. Play perfect all game but give up this one back breaking goal. I wasn't getting on him this series because he didn't do that in game 1-3, but this game he faced nothing and the one time all game we allow an east west pass he folds. Say what you want about us on offense Schmid didn't allow any soft goals, he outplayed Igor this game and that's ridiculous.

One final out of town note:

The Avs pushed all their chips in on Georgi this season. He’s taken the Kraken to OT after giving up two early goals.

His stats overall this season are molto benne (need Belarusian translation).

Same boat. Should have gone to bed hours ago but seeing that performance live left such a bad taste in me mouth that I can’t sleep. Igor was run again and there was minimal reaction. At another point (I think it was towards the end of the 1st) chytil took a late hit after the whistle and i watched as kakko and laf just skated away back to the bench. Do we need another trouba helmet incident to embarrass them enough so they actually give a shit????

I’ve Been a fan of this team for about 30 years and I’ve seen some putrid and disgusting efforts, but I feel like tonight was up there. This isn’t for ECF, having gone through two roughy 7 game series with guys hanging on by a thread. It’s f***ing game 4 of round 1, with the first two games being cake walks, relative to normal playoff hockey. No excuse for the lack of effort.

I dont mind being there and us losing, what i mind is the lack of effort. The lack of will, the lack of balls, the lack of leadership, the lack of getting up for a HOME playoff game. I was miserable at the game. I couldnt understand why people kept cheering for lolly pop shots, for a routine igor save... they literally gave nothing truly worth cheering on in game 4. It literally makes me never want to pay 450 to ever go back to a Rangers playoff game. I wanted a refund! That type of lack of effort made me ashamed to be a Rangers fan. I rather get blown out and see them play their hearts out than be in a lifeless 1 goal game that i already know isnt going to end well. I may never go back to a playoff game again after that.

LOL meanwhile i have tickets for next round. That seems like a pipe dream now.

Honest question to you guys. For the longest time the ticket to greatness was a top pick or two, we got that. Now those top picks or two are 3rd liners. Clearly the FA and trade route hasn't worked as the dickless core that we have isn't getting it done. What exactly can we do? This franchise is legit doomed to mediocrity forever. No way of building a team has worked. Looks like we'll be wasting the prime of another potentially HOFer goalie (and yes I realize how funny that sounds coming from me), we will waste the prime of probably the second best defenseman in team history. What exactly is the point of following this franchise? They have absolutely 0 hope.

How the f*** were the Devils supposed to get over 3 goals a game in these 4 games. What am I missing? Other than game 1, they have barely had any chances.
Best guess is that the expected goals were between 4 and 5 in Game 1 and 3 and skewed the average.

Well, shit.

This is going to be very awkward to all you guys who have irl Devils fans who acted like the series was over after game 2.

Hopefully the away team keeps on winning, huh?

Hopefully this lights a fire under some of the players who are just coasting.

If he wanted to let his concentration lapse he had two games to do it in games 1 and 2. We gave up a 3 and 4 goal cushion (excluding the empty netter). A top 3 goalie in the league needs to be perfect in a playoff game in the third period tied at 1.

They didn't really do shit in game 3 either.

Even top goalies give up bad goals at bad times.he isn't perfect.the guy has gone 20 straight playoff games giving up 3 goals or less.he's doing his job,the offense didn't pick him up when it needed to

I don't know how much money you make but $450 to watch this franchise play a playoff game where you've seen over and over again that their offense goes MIA in the playoffs seems like a buyer beware situation.

He's probably the last guy on this roster that I'd blame for today's game but yeah, he's not without blame.

The cup is hard to win dude. There are 12 teams that have never won it and some have been around a long time, not to mention teams like Isles -40 years, Toronto -55 years, Philly - 48 years. That's half the league right there. The Rangers just had 2 straight 105+ point seasons and a trip to the ECF last year. They are still talented and a relatively young team who didn't give up any top prospects. There is plenty of hope for the future. I thought you were turning in your Ranger fan card any way.

1 cup in 83 years with the advantage of money and a lot of players wanting play here goes beyond "hard to win". It's absolutely pathetic. It's a bottom of the barrell franchise.

This is all situations, basically Vitek was a sieve in those first two games. This was pathetic from the Rangers tonight, but they probably should have been up 3-0 going into tonight.

The series is still right there for them to win, they can’t play like did tonight though or it’s over.

Because other teams are incompetent, we have to accept incompetence? I dont give a shit about what other teams do. Unfortunately I care about this team.

Where the f*** did the 3.64 come from? The Devils didn't get that many great chances and the ones they did they converted.

The funny thing is if the Lafreniere tip went in the net like it would 99 times out of 100, we would have won this game.

I also think hockey being irrelevant in NYC sports media also doesn't help. A lot of people would be on blast right about now, but hey, Knicks are in the playoffs, baseball season started not too long ago, and the Jets got Aaron Rodgers.
Agreed. Ranger players have it easy. Local media doesn't give a crap about hockey. If this were Canada all of these guys would be raked over the coals.

Bullshit, or you could say 1 cup in the last 29 years. I don't care what happened in 1950. All that money means nothing for the last 20 years with the hard cap. Every team plays under the same rules. This team has been to 4 ECF including a SCF in the last 10 years. No cup but a lot more success than many teams in this league.

This is so much more frustrating and disappointing because just 48 hours ago we were a shot away from going up 3-0 and now here we sit tied 2-2 going back to Jersey.
