I think this non development thing is overstated. Chytil, Kakko, and Laf all showed signs of progress this year. 2 bad games doesn't change that. JT Miller was doing fine but he was a PIA and immature. Buch, Anisimov, Callahan, Dubinsky were all mid round guys who have/had nice NHL careers. Andersson and Kravs just plain suck and were bad picks and did nothing anywhere.
I'll put it this way. If significant adjustments aren't made by Thursday and we don't see a completely different team for Game 5, I'll be absolutely stunned. If they don't wake up for an elimination game at home even if Game 5 is an egg, the team deserves to be nuked.

They had Vesey and Goodrow playing top 6 minutes for much of the year because Kravs shit the bed and had a real problem finding a competent #6 Dman until those holes were filled at the deadline. Igor was also nowhere near as good as he was last year. I think Gallant did a good job with the limitations in this roster.

Idk maybe you guys are watching on MSG but ESPN was fawning over him and said that when they were by the Devils bench they heard them literally dictating their entire game around trying to shut him down. He’s playing hard, generating chances and going to dirty areas. Just last game he went and challenged 6’6 230lb Bahl.

I’m tired of how wrongly maligned the guy is, he’s the leading scorer in franchise history in points per game. Literally the best offensive player this original six franchise has ever had. He leads us in scoring every year and it’s just what’s expected of him and people will call it a down year. I remember when we were lucky to get 60pts out of our leading scorer. We’re already one of the least offensively skilled teams in the league, and Panarin makes up like half of that skill alone. He was analytically our best player tonight. 1st in Corsi, 1st in Fenwick, 2nd highest game score.
Same boat. Should have gone to bed hours ago but seeing that performance live left such a bad taste in me mouth that I can’t sleep. Igor was run again and there was minimal reaction. At another point (I think it was towards the end of the 1st) chytil took a late hit after the whistle and i watched as kakko and laf just skated away back to the bench. Do we need another trouba helmet incident to embarrass them enough so they actually give a shit????
I pretty much feel the same way. Zib was herculean from Game 5 vs. Pitt onwards last year. He gets a pass from me for being shit this year. Also think he's dealing with an injury. Took a maintenance day between Game 1 and 2 that made me raise an eyebrow.
Drury has a ruthless side to him. I have confidence he'll do what needs to be done.
