Detroit Redwings Downfall

2026/2027 appears to be the line drawn in the sand, that is when all the placeholder contracts end. If you look at the rebuild objectively you can see there is a clear path and looks like it being executed nicely.

Yzerman just needs a few of ASP, Buchelnikov, Lombardi, Danielsson, Cossa, MBN to pan out and be real difference makers. If all those kids bust then I will start evaluating why.

So far many of those kids look really, really good in their respective development leagues!
Because we’ve seen how well dumping young guys onto the roster and being part of an aggressive loosing culture does to them (see: Buffalo, Edmonton, Ottawa)

Also how many points do you think Andrew Copp and Ben Chiarot have won for the Wings exactly ?

Edit: quoted the wrong guy, supposed to be @WarriorofTime

Losing with a bunch of old guys is going to be much better?

The old guys are developed, the kids stay in the minors/europe to work on their game instead of getting absolutely roasted in the NHL. Last season Raymond Seider and Ed got a taste of what it’s like to play meaningful games.

That’s a hell of a lot better than just learning how to lose 6-1 every second game

Question - would Leafs fans rather have Marner at 13 mil, or Raymond at 8(?) going forward? If not, why?

How about Red Wings fans?

Raymond at 8 for me easily. Marner is certainly more productive. Factor in how much more productive the Leafs supporting cast is than the Wings though and I think there's a solid chance that Raymond produces at the same level as Marner if he gets to play with Matthews, Nylander and co. Plus Raymond is still getting better whereas Marner is right in the middle of his prime.

Even if we take their current production as being truly indicative of their skill now and going forward, Marner isn't 50% better than Raymond. Raymond and a 6 million dollar player beat the pants off Marner and a 1 million dollar player.

Can’t draft, can’t sign, can’t trade, can’t hire well. Yzerplan is doing great 2 points off bottom 3

Fabian Brunnstrom scoring a hattrick his first NHL game.
Now that's a name one haven't heard in a while. Funny enough his 1st NHL season besides lower level in Sweden, is the season he had the most goals in Pro sport in just 67% or so of an NHL season.
To bad he got buried after that.

Red Wings are being outshot 27-11 by a pretty average Flyers team.

And yet, Steve Yzerman continues to sit with his thumb up his ass and does nothing about it. This is fine. Just wait 3-4 more years of this garbage for the "kids" that could turn out to be complete busts for all we know.

I think people think I'm kidding but that is Exactly what he should do this season. Call up Campbell. Tank the shit out of this and get a lottery pick. I've been told repeatedly that Yzerman's only mistake is not having lottery luck. Great, here's your chance! Won't derail Raymond, Seider, Larkin, Kaspar, Edvn or ASP at all. Won't really hurt Cossa , Daniellson, the Norwegian or Augustine either. All the pieces are still in tact, a year older and then get some better UFA's in offseason with incoming cap space. They could see a huge jump in the standings next year. Go from bottom 3 to a playoff team.

Sounds like I'm kidding, but I'm not. Finishing 20th this season would be stupid.. and I don't see this team making playoffs.

Detroit isn’t losing culture? Nothing else to describe it

Totally agree. The best thing this year is to tank.

- like seeing kane with kasper right where he always should be = mentoring the newbies in the art of generating offense
- seider n edvinsson are as good as a duo can be defensively , and along with raymond form as good a top 3 under age 23 as anybody else has
- hronek , walman , ghost were moved to improve draft position in order to get better chances at high level prospects whom will fill in behind seider and company to form a long running cup challenging roster , as opposed to keeping those 3 on board to create a roster that wouldnt have had enough offense to bring home any hardware . would have been a few years of disappointment in the playoffs at serious cost to the future roster
- aint no downfall in caesars arena , its just like yzerman says ''rome wasnt built in a day''
