Detroit Redwings Downfall

Great seeing Raymond keeping the production up, but I’m not surprised. Can see him being top 15-ish in the standing at the end of the regular season, bringing Detroit to the playoffs or close to it.

That’s gonna be some amazing value for 8-ish mil per year… would Detroit fans rather have Marner for 14 mil?…

No. Skys the limit with Raymond. I can see him hitting Marner numbers in the coming years. 100 pts is not out of the question.

I understand the worry about no "real superstar" but I think Raymond is getting there...
Yeah Raymond is putting that narrative to rest big time this year. He's tied for 13th in the league in scoring this year, while being the youngest in that group and being a really good two way player. You obviously need to maintain it a bit, but if he stays just at his current level going forward with no more development, he's a superstar

Marner is the "better" player, but he's not 6 million better in the regular season even. With his playoff history, I would easily take Raymond at 8

So much is being said about Yzerman and co's drafting but their first round hits are looking all-time good right now... sure they were high picks but no top 3 picks. Going from Seider (6th) -> Raymond (4th) -> Edvinsson (6th) -> Kasper (8th) you're looking at almost surely four top of the lineup players. That's extremely impressive. Usually you'll have a bust or bottom liner in there. You can almost make an argument for any of them at 1st overall in their respective draft. Late round picks are starting to make their mark too. I know I am jumping the gun a little bit but damn... I understand the worry about no "real superstar" but I think Raymond is getting there...

Seider may not be putting up the points that Hughes and Makar do, but he’s a superstar as well.

How many top 20 scoring defensemen the last 4 years have more hits and blocks? Who’s had tougher matchups?

And you could argue that those traits are more valuable in the playoffs, if and when he gets there.

When the time comes, you wont want to be a star player playing against Seider for 7 games in a row. McLellan has taken the leash off him a bit and he's been absolutely crushing guys lately. Has a big hit or two every game
