Can someone refresh me on what contract termination means and what the ramifications are vs a buyout?

Weird that Zadina would agree to this he has 4.5m in salary owed to him over the next two years. Swallow your pride and take ur bag

He likes to get a new opportunity elsewhere, whatever it will cost.

Guy likes to play hockey.

Weird thinking in here "swallow your pride". Like what?

Zadina already had requested a trade at last season. Trade didn't happen. Yzerman waived him, no one didn't take him for free.

He would rather leave 4.5M on the table, to get a chance elsewhere. Someone will sign him for league minimum, after this.

Take the money go to AHL for 2 seasons? Think he likes to play his loved sport for 2 more years elsewehere with smaller money than go to AHL bus rides. He has all right to do that, and it's a brave move.

Certainly money isn't a factor for him. But opportunity will be.

He did but he appears to be a tweeners. To put it in perspective... Zadina has had a much more 'successful' NHL career so far. The bar is low. He was qualified but not sure if he has signed yet and not sure why he wouldn't as SJ is a great landing spot for him.
What's happening with Kaut. Though he had a good few games with SJ.

What guarantees him a spot on a different teams NHL roster ?

I'll take the 4.5 million, go to GR, ride on the bus and EARN my way back onto the Wings

It’s been already 5 years but it feels like yesterday when we wings fans was celebrating that we got the steal of the draft. What a disappointment has he been, but thats the way it goes.

He has 1+0 in 7 gp against Mtl, so mission accomplished I guess.

Jack Han has an old but interesting article on Zadina. He has some decent off puck habits that should allow him to get rush chances. And he can win some puck battles in the offensive zone. It just seems like when the confidence in his game wanes, everything else goes too.

I was quite surprised that his underlying shot/chance metrics are pretty good. Someone will take a shot at him for league minimum. This screams "Seattle Player" to me. They just let Sprong and Donato go, and will probably replace them with a league minimum version.

Exactly this. Like Why would you turn down 4.5M LOL
It's shows how badly he wants another shot. He was a 13th/14th forward at this point. With Mazur, Kasper, etc knocking down the door.

He's a good defensive forward, but just has the absolute worst puck luck I've ever seen. Doesn't help he had his confidence destroyed playing on a garbage Red Wings team to start his career.

Hes still several years away from the Czech bust pile.lol.

In fairness... He was a later pick that projects for bottom 6. I hope for a stronger AHL campaign this year. Then maybe a cup of coffee in 2 years.
Mysak might join too judging by how he wasn't able to keep up in AHL.. ottom
