He honestly could be a sneaky good pick up this offseason. Not earth shattering, but a motivated player with some skill left... could see him getting 30 points this year in the right situation.

Detroit is not the right situation.

He plays both RW and LW. Is there some young player that just HAS to get icetime in Detroit? He can play in your bottom-6 without any issues or sit in your press-box if he is getting outplayed by youngsters.

His substance abuse issue was alcohol and he sought help for it, I seriously doubt he is a threat to the young guys in the locker room and might even be a benefit.

Yep. I think any signing Yzerman makes this offseason will be with the intention of flipping them at the deadline for picks.

30 points is merely adequate for a 3rd liner and usually they’re also good defensively- which Ryan isn’t.

30 points would have been 5th for forwards for Detroit last year. Team is completely devoid of talent. Ryan would be a fine addition

Full Holland is offering him a 4 year deal for 5.5 mil aav. The deal won't be for that much.

Full Holland would be offering Madison Bowey, Ehn and Perlini raises. Yzerman walked away from them.

I was more saying that about the Wings team than Ryan himself. I just would be really shocked if he were to do that on this god awful team.

Yzerman knows what he is doing. Gets Ryan on a 1 or 2 year deal, he plays well getting top minutes and they end up moving him at the deadline.

This isnt like a Nielsson deal. Ryan has been shopping yeah.. Cash card with $100 On it not a credit card with no limit

IF Detroit is going to be active today.

I would prefer to be the team that helps some other teams make bad decisions like retain on Fleury for some assets.
Take a cap dump player for some assets etc.

If none of those deals are available... This year is going to be tight for money, and we have a bunch.

I would offer 1-2 year deals to anyone who could have value:
Ryan, Turris, Wennberg, etc etc.

But I wouldn't offer much money... If they get a better offer... good take it.
If they don't Detroit is their back up to get playing time and remain in the NHL.

You will get no trade protection here, we want to flip you for assets.

On like a one or two year deal? No, he's not. We have to have capable NHL players. We can't just run out a team of misfits and rookies. That's what gets you to be Edmonton in the mid 2010s.

For magic beans? Sure. I don’t mind the signing and it’s not like we’re going to spend our cap space elsewhere but still. Signing reclamation projects and hoping to get a 3rd or 4th RD pick 6 times isn’t the way to rebuild
