If it were, you got your wish. The GM and coach are gone. You can give Dubas a clean slate and see what he can do.I guess if the rebuild was done in 2018, this team was built by Lou?

He's had his clean slate for 3 years now...If it were, you got your wish. The GM and coach are gone. You can give Dubas a clean slate and see what he can do.
Some do I guess. He's had his clean slate for 3 years now...
His coach, his depth players and nothings changed.
Team continues to lose. Same game 7 losses in 2022 as 2018.
Lou/Dubas, Babcock/Keefe, Shanny/...still Shanny
Nothings changed. People are just pretending current managment us amazing like they were doing with previous management and with Burke + Wilson before that.
Fans get way to attached to underperformed coaches/GMs in Toronto
Well, I like Dubas, but I also wouldn't care if he got fired. I want the Leafs to win. I suspect that most who support Dubas have similar positions.Definitely more than some
Same thing happen with Dermott. Ended up losing Dermott after he tanked his value instead of just selling at highest. At that time Kappy and Johnson were at there highest value. He waited to trade a both years later when their value dropped. That was not good asset management. I get that it’s hindsight but everyone already knew at that time those guys were going to have to be traded at some point.
If that's the postion that pro dubas fans have then that's fair and postion I can respectWell, I like Dubas, but I also wouldn't care if he got fired. I want the Leafs to win. I suspect that most who support Dubas have similar positions.
We all like him as a person. Nothing to hate. But need to separate that from the team building.Well, I like Dubas, but I also wouldn't care if he got fired. I want the Leafs to win. I suspect that most who support Dubas have similar positions.
We saw how the season played out. You can debate at the time if protecting Holl was right or wrong but now you can’t. They made a mistake protecting him.Same thing happen with Dermott. Ended up losing Dermott after he tanked his value instead of just selling at highest.
Holl might be similar now. Holl's value was highest around expansion draft, then they put him on trade block when the value dropped (this is weirdest of them all, protected him just to put him on trade block at end of october?)
For me, I don't know him as a person. I have never met the man, nor have I heard him speak outside of the context of his job. I have seen some actions that are likely personal though like the Mik injury. We all like him as a person. Nothing to hate. But need to separate that from the team building.
The way they handled Holl this season, it is my theory he was protected because they thought his trade value was very high due to being serviceable with a nice cap hit. There was a bit of a supply issue with defenceman as well, so I think they wanted to take advantage of this with Holl's perceived trade value.Same thing happen with Dermott. anti-nylander fans should join pro-nylander fans just because if we trade nylander, the trade has to be done right. They really want Dubas making this trade?but like most of his trades / trade attempts, there was miscalculation.

I don't think they protected him because they were sold he was a lock to be a permanent fixture in the top 4.
It was a nice try, but like most of his trades / trade attempts, there was miscalculation. We got slapped by teams who don't value Holl the way Dubas did (Holl was on the trade block from October to the trade deadline!), so they were never able to pull any trade off and then put the icing on the cake pissing the universe off by sitting Liljegren for Holl.
Again, just a theory. Could be wrong.
The McCann trade was one of Dubies best. Nullifying it moments later was so bizarre.Same thing happen with Dermott. Ended up losing Dermott after he tanked his value instead of just selling at highest.

I really don’t want Dubas or Shanny making any decisions related to trades or FA,s for that matteranti-nylander fans should join pro-nylander fans just because if we trade nylander, the trade has to be done right. They really want Dubas making this trade?
Does anyone know him as a person? We all like him as a person. Nothing to hate. But need to separate that from the team building.
There are only a couple of things I heard about Dubas. He wears glasses without prescription lenses for some reason...and he has a fiery temper according to Justin Bourne. He said Dubas would swear he was trading a player after a bad game and then cool down a day or 2 later. That's about all I have heard.Does anyone know him as a person?
I heard he’s a pompous ass much like Babcock
I truly believe Dubas despises Holl LOL.He said Dubas would swear he was trading a player after a bad game and then cool down a day or 2 later. That's about all I have heard.
I don't recall it being a debate. You can go back and look at the pre Marner signing threads though and most of it was around what his massive ask was rumoured to be and how he was going to take Kyle to the woodshed. I think it was Dreger and maybe some bloggers that were using JT as the trigger but I I don't think it was put out there by any credible source. IIRC the Marner camp was all about getting as much as Matthews.Has it ever been confirmed or close to confirmed that the matthews and marner deal were anyway influenced by the tavares deal?
I remember this was a debate back then
TOR has made seven and eight year offers in the $11M AAV universe but because it’s a lower AAV and longer term than Auston Matthews, it hasn’t been palatable to Marner.

If anyone was concerned with JT's paycheck it might have been Matthews but he got more money and a shorter term so it doesn.t seem logical that he was using Tavares as a yard stick. His floor would have started above the Eichel deal with his agent's only comp being Connor I guess. The money was a bit high for what he had accomplished by then, but more in context of the term. If he signs same AAV for 8 yrs Mitch likely follows so they are still in the cap vise but it looks a lot better by years 6-8. Connor will still be making $12.5 per for the first two years of AMs next mega deal.
I know many, including me, were spouting off about JT's deal leading to the overpayment (whatever you might agree to it being) but this level of greed was probably going to be there without JT being signed. Early control of their next deal was the focus.
I think you might be surprised how easy it might be to move Mrazek. The Marleau contract was one year too long as well, yet it’s the root of all evil apparently. Meanwhile we’re stuck with this boat anchor for another two years, unless we give up something significant, which we will.

You'll always have teams that need a stop gap goalie. Look at Buffalo this year. The closest thing they had to a starter was a 41 yr old Craig Anderson and then a bunch of NHL tweeners and prospects being called up. Teams like Chicago are bottoming out and just need a stop gap till they are ready to compete again. Then there is teams like Arizona that need to reach the cap floor and only have Vemeljka signed who has only played one season of NHL hockey.
I also don't expect Mrazek to repeat his poor numbers that he had this year unless he continues his health struggles.
