Buy out Richards and give him 4.5 per over 5 years. Richards is essentially useless now as it is. I wouldn't be opposed to buying him out this offseason.
 
I love what Stepan has done this season but I'm just not ready to have faith in it continuing just yet. He will only get better, but we need a full 82 to judge

Stepanwill be gone before he signs a 2.75 deal. I know that for sure!!!

He has no leverage and hasn't proven that he can maintain this pace for a full season.

Again, Claude Giroux got a cheap three year deal. Is Stepan worth more than Giroux was when he signed that? The answer is no.
 
look what duchene signed for too.. as well as logan coutier..

id say 3.25-3.5m AAV on a 2yr deal..

honestly id rather give long term deal, but bc if we lock up our players and buy UFA years we could lower the cap hit and make these deals look more affordable to keep everyone longer and down the road..

all i know is all signs point to richards being bought out in 14'.. everyone needs to get resigned and we need that 6.6 cap $$$ to buy brass, girardi, dz, hank, callahan, kreider (will be cheap) but we need that $$..

if we didn't sign staal to that 5yr deal and just did a 2yr gap deal, his cap hit right now would be at least 5 mil!!
 
21st in league scoring, 11th in center scoring, 10 PP points, 4 SH points, 30 ES points.

Best overall skater on the team this year, not close.

He is a different player than last year, can't wait to see him tear it up in the playoffs!

Can't believe people thought he would top out as a 3C or that Henrique was better. I know hindsight is 20/20 but come on...
 
I'm foregoing the bridge contract and signing him to a long term deal. All the others can do bridge contracts if Sather wants, but lock Stepan up!. We have the cap space to do it.

He was good on face offs for the majority of this season. He really struggled lately which hurt his overall percentage (46%)

1.) Giroux has a history of injuries;

2.) He's redheaded.
 
You guys will probably kill me and I'm not a great scout or anything, but offensively does Stepan remind anyone else of Tavares? A poor man's Tavares, obviously. Neither guy is a burner. Neither guy is super flashy. Both guys have good shots (obviously Tavares's is much better), both guys have great hockey sense and vision. Both guys push the action. Seems like they play a similar game.
