my english isn't the best, but are we sure that "fibula" is a bone in the body and not like a violin?

Admittedly it would be odd if he brought a stringed instrument to the ice and it was broken by a shot, just wants to be sure.

Hairline cracks can sometimes be extremely difficult to see.

Happened to myself. Had a hairline fracture, ended up not being seen even though I couldn't rotate the wrist, eventually cracked further, then was visible upon xray.

I thought it was his foot where he blocked the shot? I have no doubts that gross is ****ing up again. I hate our beat writers with a passion.

Gross is great man, pretty non-aggressive, non objective.

Relax man, they do a great job. Without them, we wouldn't have ANY info. Andrew Gross does an excellent job.

Uh no, they don't. Our beat writers are amongst the worst in the league. They routinely get things wrong or are late.

Slats just earned 12m over 6 years on July 1st, 2015. Do we know if Dolan talked with the doctor giving Stepan green light to hit the ice today?

Unless any of us are part of the Rangers medical staff it's probably not worth speculating on the recovery time. None of us know how bad it is, and none of us know how to rehab a pro athlete injury

Yep, stress fractures particularly are notoriously hard to see on an x-ray. Thats why they do MRI's a lot now.

I am assuming there is no ligament damage, and no displacement.

Assuming those two things its roughly a 2-3 month recovery to back playing.

He could be skating within a month.

30? If this report is correct, and the Web MD'ing 4-6 week range is also correct...he's on pace to miss about 10-15 games.

Web MD'ing is how long until you can walk and do some jogging. Not return to competitve sports.

He will be skating in 4-6 weeks. He wont be playing

thats incredibly optimistic. He can probably be skating again in about a month. Return to action though? Doubtful, probably another month after that

I've never heard of a crack in a leg turning into a borken leg, it sounds like the kid got a hairline and it was noticed today when the pain had not went away. But I am of course just guessing.

After googling like "broken fibula out months" and "broken fibula out weeks" you can see that its all over the place. From 6 months to 2-4 weeks.

He'll miss 30~ games, I bet. Hopefully closer to 25.

Could be worse, but ugh.

I think he's back by 11/21/14 the latest.

total of 20 games

that's 8 weeks.

These players are highly conditioned athletes that are usually back from injury sooner than the average guy.

If the standard recovery time is 4-6 weeks, then I see no reason that 8 weeks would be a problem.

As mentioned prior, Stamkos was skating after a month and did you see his ankle flop like a fish out of water. A much more severe injury and the dude is skating 30 days later.

The possibility is there for a slow heal. But I think we are looking at Stepan suiting up against the Sabres in Buffalo.

Are you a doctor who specializes in dealing with pro athletes?

e: honestly I just think assuming any kind of recovery tiem right now is premature

Had a minor fracture and he opened the fracture up by putting pressure on it...

It depends what you are looking for, but you can be skating/running in about a month. Playing competitive sports takes about a month longer than that.
