I don't see how they could be counted as anything else. 2 teams play each other a bunch of times in a row until one team wins x number of them and the other team is eliminated. Sounds like playoffs

Hockey reference is counting the bubble against the Rangers as playoff games, is anyone else? Those 8 points in 3 games looming large as a factor

The bubble "play-in" games count as playoff stats, as they should. It was best of 5 instead of best of 7 but it was a post-season elimination series. They even count the round robin games' stats as playoff stats. Penguins lost in the play-in round but because they made the play-in round they still officially have a 16 year playoff appearance streak. Also, with us eliminating Boston in round 1 we are now tied with Colorado for longest active postseason opening series win streak at 4 seasons.

I’m more relieved than joyous with this win. The Rags gotta be pretty confident after 2 very close games in our building. Game 3 will show us where this series will end.

Yeah, nothing like losing a 1-0 game on a shorty from the guy you bought out to give you the ol' boost of confidence.

It'll be interesting to see how the Rangers try to play at home. It doesn't really feel like they're trying to play to their strengths but like they're trying to slow down an offensive juggernaut. Which is weird, cause the Canes aren't really that and can play this type of game as well as any team. It seems they'd be better off trying to outscore us at all costs, cause they might be able to on occasion.

Anyways, not the most entertaining games, but I'll gladly take two more like them if they're dumb enough to give them to us.
