Well, what now DO?

shanny comes in with a tactical nuke?

I think doing a real re-build is our only choice. If we can find any takers for Phaneuf, Kessel, and Lupul, we trade them for an assortment of prospects and draft picks. We play youth and lose a lot and maybe we get lucky and get McDavid or that Czech kid. With a young star, we build around him. In 5 years we might be good.
This core is a death sentence for the next 7-8 years. Failure and collapse every single year.

It's time to TAKE ACTION!!!!

In any other city, the fans would simply stop going to the games.
But this is TO, where most of the tickets go to suits anyways. So that's not going to work.

Instead, the opposite should happen. Actual leaf fans should go to the game as often as possible (and I mean REAL leaf fans. Not the people that just blindly support everything management does).
And those fans should boo EVERYTHING that happens. All game long. Make the organization a HUMILIATION.
Waffles should be thrown at all times. Throw waffles at the actual players and coaches. Even the refs. Make them not want to come either. (i mean, they're only waffles. They're not going to hurt, just embarrass them).
Make it a news story every single night. Show them we WILL NOT stand for this any longer.

It's time to TAKE ACTION!!!!
They're going to get their money anyways. No stopping that. But lets make being a high up in mlse a HUMILIATING position.
Make it so they have a difficult time signing FA's. Make it so that they can't find a President to step in, or GM or coach.
Make the whole organization DISGRACEFUL.
You might be thinking "this will hurt our team. No one will want to come here."
To that I respond by saying "WHO ****ING CARES!!!!"
We suck anyways. What difference does it make.
At least this way we can fight back against this disgraceful organization in some way.
IT'S TIME TO TAKE ACTION!!!!

Lets see pro scouts and contracts.

Komi= could not give him away

FB= ended up trading him out after 136 games

Connolly= could not give him away

Versteeg=53 games

Grabo= could not give him away

Liles= could not give him away, had to take back same cap hit.

Clarkson and Phaneuf

this organisation just does not get it.

The Maple Leafs ranked 105th out of 122 teams among the smartest spenders in sports according to Businessweek. Underneath is how they did their rankings.

:baghead:

The only team in league history to have 5 players all at the same time refuse to waive their full no trade clauses.

The only team in history to have traded away draft slots well before draft day that ended up being top 4 draft slots , 3 times.

Last orig 6 team to have a 50 goal scorer.

Only 1 prospect to make HFs top 50 and that's at #50.:shakehead

Carlyle: Team Collapses 2/3 years on your watch.
Nonis' move: Extend Carlyle contract until 2017.

I like this idea, lol.

Getting trounced by Buffalo's AHL roster: Buffalo 6 Leafs 2
followed by getting routed by the Predators: Nashville 9 Leafs 2

Wow ... the **** has hit the fan since the last post here.

I just read this one ... it is a must post here.

Wow.
And the 1 was the game in florida where they had half a goalie playing the whole third period, wouldnt have won that one if healthy

We're the only team in the league to not make the playoffs over an 82 game season during the cap era.

Also, I believe 19 different franchises have had a top 3 draft choice since the 2005 draft, and we're not one of them.

That's a VERY fine line to walk (no playoffs + no high picks consistently for a full decade), especially given how much luck factors into the final standings (injuries, goaltending, career years, career lows, etc).

You'd think if we were bad enough to consistently miss the playoffs, we would have bottomed out for a top 3 pick multiple times. Or on the flip side, you'd think if we were good enough to avoid a top 3 pick so consistently, that we would have squeaked into the playoffs a couple of times.

Breaking offensive records (for futility) going back to the St. Pats, and even before the forward pass was allowed.

After being #1 for offensive production, earlier, for a while.

This so solid....almost cursed.

Record for most stupid trades helping American teams.

S.Niedermayer,Luongo,Rask,Seguin,Hamilton,Couture,Steen all thrown away to US teams. Now they want to trade Kessel to Florida for peanuts.

Notice a pattern?

I doubt they will get peanuts in return for Kessel. Niedermeyer, Luongo, Seguin, Hamilton, Couture were draft picks we gave away (but really should have kept) and were never Leafs property. Steen is a bit different from Kessel because nobody thought he would blossom into what he is today, Kessel arguably is at his peak now. But you make a good point, the draft is the real way to build and tossing away draft picks as we always have was not the way to go and it came back to bite us in the ass

Our current GM thought one 46 point season was worth a 7 year, $5.25 mil/year contract.

Doesn't sting as much now that he's gone, but man, it's just baffling how we used up both compliance buyouts in order to sign the worst contract in the league.

We have one road win in 2015 and it came against Florida when both their goalies took turns getting injured.

The ****?! Even the Marlies might have won 2 road games in the NHL.

We are worse than the Sabres on the road. The SABRES.

:amazed: Wow, that's crazy. There's nothing worse that could happen to a sports team. Although, we did finish bottom 3 once, while we didn't own the pick.
