NOT ONE SINGLE player making over $5.0M deserves to start the 2014-2015 season as a Toronto Maple Leaf! NOT ONE!

This collapse is JUST REPREHESIBLE and certainly NOT ACCEPTABLE!

I want HUGE CHANGES! Fire everyone, and, TRADE the PRIMA DONNAS that are DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for this GARBAGE!

Let's go Shanny, show us how you can RESHAPE this organization, and ROSTER , from TOP to BOTTOM! JUST DO IT!

They had to shed 10 million in cap space , just to be cap maxed,

used both compliance buy outs ,

already have the trade value on the ice of your 2013,2014,2015 --2nd round picks,

chose not to recoup any draft picks at the trade deadline, 2 years running,

and have one of the weakest prospect pools in the entire league

we go into next season with one of the worst cap positions in the entire league

our overpaid core =s 3 epic collapses in a row

and ALL this adds up to the highest ticket and consessions prices in the entire league = cup contender

A month ago sitting in 9th now we have a chance to pick at 7th overall.

Tyler Bozak is playing as one of are best forwards.
I love Bozak but when he is doing better on both ends we have a problem.

This is a killer and the farm team is bare.........next 4-5 years will test the fans

Those 6 players will take up half our 23 man roster cap. So all we have to do isssssssss add 17 guys into that equal cap hit. LOL YEEEE HAAAAAW

the farm team isn't bare it's just not full of "ooh, shiny!"
which actually makes me feel a lot better. maybe then the Leafs can stop throwing draftpicks at the actual third liner people and use the ones we have in the minors.

I just want to point this out, two years ago we had one the best prospect pools. When we placed Kadri, Reilly up on the lines. Traded Matt Finn away which was also another a prospect. Yes we traded our 3 2nd rounds picks, I still take Holland, Bolland and.........BERNIER! Holland good 2-way forward that is developing nicely. We do have few prospects that are NOT prospects anymore do due they have played too many NHL games *cough cough* T.J Brennen number 1 offensive D-man in AHL. The other prospect not considered as a prospect because he kinda located in Europe and playing pro I think he be coming up soon Peter Granberg think of him as a Gunner. Plays a shutdown role with a good physical play.

Now for the cap, I think I want to face palm. Next year salary 49,569,167. It is presumed cap be in the 71.1 mil. We also be reward with 850,000 due to injuries for the next two years. We be the top 10 yes top 10. If that bottom of the bucket for a cap space. RFA as such as following: Franson, Reimer, Gardiner, Ashton. Okay not bad for RFAs, as for UFA a lot of this I could care less about outside of Kulemin and Bolland. Rest of the UFA is as following Ranger, MacClement, Raymound, Brodie and MacIntyre. Yes Raymound had a good year but there better upgrades that we can afford if we can land them.

They'll trade those prospects who might become useful role players for older, more expensive, role players close to the end of their usefulness. Just watch. :(

Well I don't know how you measure cap strength

but we have the least amount of players in the league signed going into next year and we have the 6th lowest amount available per contract.

so when I add up the fact that we have to ink so many , with such a weak cap per contract allotment, then yes, I put us in one of the weakest cap positions in the league.

well that is where my problem is DJ ,no oh shiny

I believe we need to strip 3 maybe 4 players of what they call "the core"

more times then not it takes those , oh shiny, to fill core spots.

Colorodo is spending 11 million dollars less than the leafs, but have 27 more points in a harder conference.

2 years ago HF ranked Toronto 20th (23rd today), and we have not traded away Finn.
We have however traded away 2 of our top prospects from 2 years ago in Colborne and Blacker.

Strengths: Morgan Rielly leads a strong group of defensive prospects that also includes Matt Finn, Jesse Blacker, and Stuart Percy. In addition, they have a handful of skilled forwards with NHL experience like Nazem Kadri, Joe Colborne, and Carter Ashton.

Weaknesses: Many of the forwards are third and fourth line prospects, who have more grittiness than offensive skill. Additionally, Toronto has a fluid situation in net, both on the NHL level, as well as down the pipeline. The strongest netminder in the system is Mark Owuya, but he is off to a very slow start this season and may go the way of many highly touted Maple Leafs' goaltending prospects of the recent past.

Top 5 Prospects: 1. Morgan Rielly, D; 2. Nazem Kadri, C; 3. Joe Colborne, C; 4. Jesse Blacker, D; 5. Matt Finn, D.

And when you are a top 10 team when it comes to the cap but a bottom 10 team when it comes to on ice performances you are in trouble.

No way around it, we suck.

In 3 years, it will be 50 years without a cup

in 3 years, it will be 46 years for the Vancouver Canucks without a cup, oh wait they never won a Cup but they've been in the league since 1970. It's true that the Leafs are long overdue, but if you look at many teams, they have depressing stats too. St. Louis have been in the league since 1967 and have NEVER won a cup, that's 46 years.....

In the last 4 years the Oilers have received 3 times the amount of first overall picks than the Leafs have had in the history of their franchise (almost a century).

It's a key to consider that with 16 teams in the conference; the point distribution is spread very thinly. Unlike the West where it's easier for a few teams to run away with point leads; the East will from this point onward will see a very thin line from top to bottom.

The only brightside is that it benefits draft positioning.

I guess it would be 18 times they missed the playoffs since 67, a positive spin would be they made the playoffs 28 times and went to the conference finals 6 times.

Positive spins are banned in this thread.
