Not sure how this team wins games without their 2 best forwards out indefinitely in Boeser & Miller.

The forward group by committee has to get it done, team will have to play tight defensively and grind out wins.

I’m not going to comment on what’s going on with JT. I hope he gets the help he needs and overcomes whatever he’s dealing with.

That being said, interesting the narrative post game was that JT could handle the benching, whereas someone like Petey wouldn’t be able to cope with it. When you look at it temporally, it seems like the benching was the tipping point and it makes you wonder if Tocchet really has as great an insight in to the psyche of his players as we all think he does.

I think it’s probably more what vadimsharifijanov said that Tocchet probably felt he wasn’t in the right headspace to be one of the guys to help the team win and either that’s because things have got to this point where he needs to step away, or maybe it helped Miller realize he should step back. I doubt it upset Miller to the point it was a tipping point in itself.

Yeah fair enough. Of course all speculation on my end. Hope JT comes back stronger than ever

It may sound harsh and I will garner criticism for saying this but this core does appear to be really mentally fragile. Between Pettersson earlier on this season and now this? It's rather concerning.

That's not to excuse this fanbase which has a segment of really unhinged and disturbed individuals going at these players.
How can you say they're mentally fragile when none of us have any idea what's going on in Miller and Pettersson's personal lives? This type of speculation is just gross IMO.

So Tocc put Miller on blast when he JT clearly has some off-ice things going on? Not a great look.
I don’t think it’s related. Miller was playing bad, Tocchet benches him as he’s done before and it worked to light a fire under JT when he has those lull moments.

Judging from the reports so far, this seems like it was unrelated to this specific benching situation and more related to his overall play and him wanting to re-set. Better for him to take a month off and just focus on getting that drive and clarity back which is what makes him a really good player. This market and the demands can be overwhelming and distracting.

In hindsight this is probably what Pettersson should have done and Miller probably sees he’s heading towards that same downward trend.

I think this time away will be a good thing for Miller.

We don’t know what’s going on, but we do know that the current situation was not looking great.

It would’ve been much worse for him to continue on this current path without taking any action.

I think a lot of players would try to “play through” whatever is going on and end up making things worse.

So if it’s as simple as he needs some time to rest and reset, I’m glad he’s taking it.

the word "indefinite" is troubling, but maybe just to get media to shut up and not ask questions if it extends beyond a couple weeks or whatever.

hope miller and his family are alright

Hoping for nothing but the best for JT Miller, and for his family. Obviously the game can take a toll on mental health, and I hope this time lets him get himself right and that he has the support he needs.

“Indefinite” just means of an unknown length, and I think you’re right it is just to keep media quiet if it extends for a while.

No good news to come out of a situation like this but the Dhaliwal / Johnston reports seem about as good as you can hope for.

I am getting serious 2007-08 vibes about this season. After an unexpectedly good year that marked the team's re-emergence as a contender, expectations are high and nothing ever quite gets settled... the early results are okay but lacking something, then injuries hit and the wheels fall off.

Just feels a bit too familiar.

or it's daniel getting injured and that being exactly what henrik needed to start playing more selfish and take that next step forward????

c'mon petey the mvp race is still kind of open
