Best case scenario, he only misses this game and a couple of practices (Canucks have a 3 game break after today), re-joins the team for the road trip, and is good to go in Ottawa.
I mean, not that I "hope" it's an off-ice issue or event, but that seems like a more plausible and justifiable reason to take a leave of absence from the team, vs. "I'm not playing well so I just want to take a break".I don’t think it’s related. Miller was playing bad, Tocchet benches him as he’s done before and it worked to light a fire under JT when he has those lull moments.
Judging from the reports so far, this seems like it was unrelated to this specific benching situation and more related to his overall play and him wanting to re-set. Better for him to take a month off and just focus on getting that drive and clarity back which is what makes him a really good player. This market and the demands can be overwhelming and distracting.
In hindsight this is probably what Pettersson should have done and Miller probably sees he’s heading towards that same downward trend.
MVP race lmao I just hope he can play above average consistently for a month, 4 decent games after a terrible playoffs last season and 13 bad games to start this season.or it's daniel getting injured and that being exactly what henrik needed to start playing more selfish and take that next step forward????
c'mon petey the mvp race is still kind of open
“Indefinite” just means of an unknown length, and I think you’re right it is just to keep media quiet if it extends for a while.
No good news to come out of a situation like this but the Dhaliwal / Johnston reports seem about as good as you can hope for.
I get the impression that Tocchet's comments probably spurred JT to take a leave of absence, rather than knowingly blasting him when he has off-ice issues. So Tocc put Miller on blast when he JT clearly has some off-ice things going on? Not a great look.
Its wild how different the narrative is between Miller and EP...Wow. JT is the type of guy that would play with a broken leg and not complain about it, the medical staff couldn’t even convince him to take a game off when he was injured, I hope everything is OK with JT & his family, thoughts & prayers going out to the Miller family, hope JT returns soon he’s our best forward and is the heart & soul of this franchise.
Yeah, totally. Expect if they had any sense of timeline they would have said it was an injury. But my guess is no one has a clue how long he will need at this point.agreed, but it also suggests the team is bracing that whatever it is likely could extend for a while
it's not the kind of thing you'd say in a press release if he's just facing burnout and they're giving him scheduled days off until christmas for load management or whatever
Maybe because their different players and people? Its wild how different the narrative is between Miller and EP...
To me, that's a worse look.I get the impression that Tocchet's comments probably spurred JT to take a leave of absence, rather than knowingly blasting him when he has off-ice issues.
That also isn't a great look but it's also a mature thing by JT to say he needs a reset when he hasn't been playing well.
Petey just needs to performatively smash his stick on the bench a couple times so that casuals label him as a "leader" and "he hates losing".Its wild how different the narrative is between Miller and EP...
Knowing JT, it's probably more like "Coach wasn't happy with me and I'm not happy with my effort, so I need a reset."To me, that's a worse look.
"Coach wasn't happy with me so I have to leave the team". I mean, Petey didn't even do that and Tocc was openly denying Petey was ever injured.
I said elsewhere in the thread, I don't "hope" it's an off-ice issue/situation, but that would seem a far more plausible and justifiable reason to take a leave of absence.
Its wild how different the narrative is between Miller and EP...
Maybe because their different players and people?
On a personal level, it does. This does not give me comfort.
Some of our fans are garbage, JT Miller has been carrying this team on his back for 3 years now, show some love and respect, have nothing good to say than don’t say it.
I don't think we would have heard anything if this was the case. Don't see any way that happens.Best case scenario, he only misses this game and a couple of practices (Canucks have a 3 game break after today), re-joins the team for the road trip, and is good to go in Ottawa.
I think its almost beyond question that Miller has some injuries right now, so I find it really odd that he wasn't just held out for injury reasons as I don't think anyone would have batted an eye.Yeah, totally. Expect if they had any sense of timeline they would have said it was an injury. But my guess is no one has a clue how long he will need at this point.
