Pretty much exactly the kind of move I expected.

Whether it ends up being a good move or not is on Gallant now.

Schneider has looked shaky the last few games but I don't like the idea of a player like Braun coming in and instantly bumping him out of the lineup. That would be bad.

If Braun is used as a hedge against injuries or Schneider really falling off a cliff the rest of the season than it's fine.

Agreed that he's very possibly their best goalie now, whether Reimer stays or not; I just don't see San Jose as a playoff team anytime soon. The value looks pretty fair, but I think they should be targetting futures a bit harder.

That is fair but it is hard to argue that a 25 year old goalie isn't really looking to the future. In theory, they have 5-8 years with him if he works out, so that would cover any window. With the contracts they have, they kind of have to play in this weird grey area of never fully rebuilding but somehow need to get younger and improve at the same time.

I'm sure still he can, but he was pretty much exclusively RHD here playing mostly with Provorov, which was really done out of necessity. Might be best if you planned to keep him on the right side and only move him if you have to.

Can't wish him too much luck as a Flyers fan but I appreciate how he accepted the positions he was put in. It's been very loud around here, but it was quiet around him and have nothing bad to say.

I like adding Braun. I wish he'd slot in for Nemeth, but I feel like they'll go with the veterans on the third pair and he'll play with Nemeth while Schneider sits. I hope I'm wrong.

Based on some of the atrocious deals that went down yesterday, a 2023 3rd for Braun is perfectly fine as as a depth defensive move. There's nothing wrong with that move

Good move. Schneider shows a ton of promise but he and Nemeth together are a train wreck. Try replacing each with Braun and see if that pairing gets better.
